This will by our first trip of '06.  It promises to be a good one.  It's hosted by Degray Lake resort & state park in Bismark, Ar.    I camp this lake often, but have never camped at a state park nor have we ever taken part in any organized events while camping.  Having a 6yr old nature loving son I think this will be a great experince for him.  any of you folks near arkansas should think about comming out.  It's Mar. 17th - 19th.  Feel free to email me if you need more info or plan on comming. - thomas@3n1.com

here is some info regarding the planned activities:

Friday March 17

2:00 PM-           MEET A SNAKE (30 min) Can you name the venomous snakes that live in Arkansas?  Meet Jason to find out more about Arkansas

Howdy!

My wife and I spent a week at Degray last October...and we really enjoyed it!

We saw multitudes of deer along the park roads in the evenings which was pretty cool and the boat tour was also nice!

Degray is right at 20 minutes from Hot Springs, so we planned a half day tour again of the Hot Spring sites!

All in all, Degray proved worth the trip.

We stay in State Parks as often as possible, in several states, and have always been pleased at the pleasant, courteous, and ever helpful park employees! Most park facilities are getting a little old due to the cut backs within the P&W departments, but they are always clean and safe!

If you live in Texarkana, you might also think about a future trip to Lake Catherine State Park...we loved the camping spots right on the water. (some within just a few feet, lol) The mountains made the lake pituresque and the steam coming off the water every morning was very pretty! Catherine is also about 15-20 minutes from Hot Springs!

Have a great trip!

Your like the 20th person that has told me that.  You know I spend alot of time up in that area & camp at degray & ouachita atleast 2 or 3 times each a year, all that & I have no clue where Lake Catherine is.

Funny how that works out some times, lol! Here is a link to the park...the pictures do not do the park justice!!!

The three parks form a rough triangle and are actually on the same river!

Great camping!

ps...I am from East Texas and do not mind the drive at all considering the paybacks:)
