I am looking to buy a 1999 dutchmen model 1006 for $2500
It has everthing but a toilet. Does anyone know anything about the dutchmen product? I haven't seen much info on line about them.

I only know one person who owner a Dutchman popup.  They may have had a lemon, but their's had lots of problems.

Things fell off, the lift system broke twice.  One trip we had to beg other campers for enough ropes, tye downs, etc to secure their top because the roof would not go all the way down.  We did get it down tight enough for them to get home.

I don't know if their experience was typical, but it was bad!

I have not owned a Dutchman but from what i have herd, stay away from them, very resonably priced, you can get them cheep, $2500 sounds high to me for a 7 yr old pop up.  Unless its been stored in a barn for 5 yrs. or something like that.  Dutchman are known for low end.  I am in the process of getting a Jayco.  I have done my reserch, I have brochures from the 80's on most of the pop up brand s out there.  I have a huge collection of trailer and pop up brochures to current years 2006. Jayco is still family owned and has a great product from what i can tell.  But with my luck whatch and see I'll have alot of problems. ( I hope not...lol...)  I have owned many colemans and loved them too.  Good luck, J Bird

I have heard that Dutchman had a great reputation with the TT, it was the popups only that were not made very well.

No facts to back that up though.

Thanks for the input folks! I have read a lot about the dutchmen brand of pop ups and 80% was not good. I think I may stray away from this deal. I am just getting jumpy on buying one and I don't want to jump the gun and regret it.
This dutchmen I am talking about my wife and I went to see it tonight. These people that owned it put some big miles on it about 35000 in fact. I think $2500 for this unit is to much myself. I did see a nice starcraft at a dealer this weekend it was a 1997 and looked mint for $2800. What to do what to do?

I would forget the Dutchmen and go for the Starcraft , for the little differance in price you would be getting a better trailer. From the information I have read on other forums I would avoid the Dutchmen camper also.

Whatever you decide, I hope you find a great popup and I am sure you will have many wonderful trips!

Good luck figuring it all out.
