Hi. I grew up camping in a popup and am looking to purchase a used one now for my family to use. I found a pretty good deal on a 1993 Viking popup. It hasn't been used for 2 years, but I know the people who own it well and they are giving me a good price. The only item I am a little nervous about is that the floor has a few very small sections of rot (from undeneath) along a few of the edges. Nothing that is more then 2-3 inches in length or width, all along edges or corners. Maybe thee such spots total. Additionally, the one corner of the roof - where a plastic corner piece is attached - is split and in addition to needing a new corner piece, the wood beneath it is a little rotted. Do these items seem like pretty minor details to be worried about?

Rotted wood is a PITA to replace.  If you can get to the spots and replace just the rotted spots and a little of the good wood around them without gutting the whole trailer, it will not be so bad.  Often you have to remove all of the cabinets, drawers, seats, etc. to get to the rotted wood. Some people have camped for years with rotted wood before it got to the point that it had to be replaced.  You need to decide if it will be too big of a project for you to do, or if you will be able to do it once the job has to be done.  If the price is right I would be worth while.  Good luck.:)

I personally would not even nuts around with the camper,  I would pass on it.  Even if its a great price.  Just to get it cheep and fix the water damage to say..." I did it !!!" after hours and $$$$ later.  Spend your time enjoying camping and not fixing the wood.  You'll only worry every time it rain or gets wet.  You'll be down there looking and serching.  Why put your self through that.  I look at life realistically, get one YOU can ENJOY....my 2 cents....lol.... I called the seller and said I needed more time to think about it b/c I was concerned about the small patches of rot and he said that in the meantime he had spoken with his son who works in construction and they are going to fix it for me - replace the areas with the rot - for no additional charge.  So I agreed to the purchase.

Great deal then.  That is nice that of them to do that.:)
