Normally we don't do the party atmosphere style of parks but this year we decided to try something different.  We are heading out to Silver Lake sand Dunes State park.  Should be a blast.

Are you going anywhere for Memorial day weekend or just staying home and staying away from the crowds.

Neat place.  Looks a little like Jockey Ridge SP near Nags Head in the Outer Banks of NC.

We'll be camping at Letchworth SP, NY over Memorial Day.  Highlight of our trip will be a river raft ride Sat. evening.  They have a hot air balloon rally duing the weekend at the park.  The Sat. eve flight will include a contest where the pilots drop down into the gorge, winner is the one closest to the water.  Our raft ride will beach at the point the balloons drop down and have a picnic dinner while watching the balloons.  We'll be the only people permitted in the gorge, everyone else will be observing from the rim.

We will be camping at our local SP for the holiday.  I have my favorite site reserved.  It sits down off of the campground road about 40 yards, a small stream runs along side of it and on 3 sides all you have are woods.  The park only has 59 campsites and many local families camp there on the summer holidays, so there usually isn't any trouble.:)

We will be beginning our two week vacation at Myrtle Beach on Memorial Day.

I can hardly wait!

I always wondered what Silver Lake was like.  It looks nice.  Have you ever been to Hoffmaster State Park in Michigan?  If so, how did you like it?

Have fun!

We made a reservation at Water's Edge Campground (  http://www.watersedgecampground.com/  ) in Lebanon, CT.

Anyone been there before?

We will be most joyfully staying home Memorial Day weekend.

PJay and I often celebrate our anniversary on Mem Day weekend, but this year, she will be graduating from Bethel University with a degree in Youth Ministry/Theatre Arts.  This has been the central focus of our lives for the past 3-1/2 years, and family will be arriving from as far away as Florida to celebrate with us.

BTW, she is stage manager in their upgoming production of Wm. Shakespear's comedy, Merry Wives of Windsor.  If you're in the neighborhood, you are invited to come and watch!

As of now, I'm staying home Memorial Weekend ... that could change.  If I don't stay home, I'm not camping.  Throngs of crazy campers make me nervous!

Congratulations to PJay ~ that's an awesome accomplishment.  I will be in the neighborhood and would love to attend the play ... I bookmarked the site and will check my calendar.  Thanks for the offer.  :D

Wow!  That looks so nice.  Please let us know how you like it there.  We are thinking about going to the Outer Banks in the future and would appreciate the feedback.

We have reservations at Pine Lakes in Pittsfield as does our DS, his GF and some other of his friends.  We have 4 sites in all.  Hope the fishing is good.  I prefer to camp without such a crowd but it is like the official kick off to summer and I just feel we have to go.

What with all the wet weather we've been having I'm just hoping Donner Lake will have enough snowmelt so we don't have to imitate the original Donner party:yikes:

This won't be my first time there, we go every Memorial & Labor Day weekends, as well as occassional spur of the moment trips. I'm one of the rare few who can get into this campground without a reservation...because I designed and host that website!! They have a couple of sites they do not reserve, but for the most part you have to reserve well in advance to stay here. They are small, and charge half what the KOA and Camp Hatteras up the street from them charge!

As an added benefit, I'm suppose to go down there and install campground wide FREE WiFi for them in the next month or so. However, have had problems lining up the right equipment to do the job (never done a WiFi system for anyone before)...
