We will be dry camping at the following National Parks

- Yellowstone, WY

- Zion National Park, Utah

- North Rim of the Grand Canyon, AZ

Can I fill me water tank when I arrive at each of these parks. Anyone out there that has been to these National Parks.

Sure.  There are several ways to do it.

1st.  Get a water thief (a device sold at most rv stores that allows you to connect a hose to a faucet that has no threads).  Connect your hose to it and fill your tank before you get into your site or carry extra hose and hopefully you can reach it at your site.

2nd. Fill water jugs and haul them to your site and fill your tank.  Some folks use a luggage cart for this.

Variation on 2 - build a device that will a) support the weight of the container while the water goes into your tank or b) build a water pump (http://community.webshots.com/user/ozandus) to pump the water from the container to your tank.

Hope this helps.

I have not camped at the parks in question, but I am sure they have water available.  Fill up on the way to your campsite or carry water in a plastic water container.  Wal-Mart has green plastic "Jerry Cans" that are made for hauling water.  IIRC they hold 6 gallons of water.:)

I have camped at them all.  They are your typical national park campgrounds with water scattered every few sites.  It may be that he wants someplace where he can stop near the campground and use someone's facilities to fill up at.  Can't help with that.

I have camped in a number of National Parks;  They have all had potable (safe to drink) water near (not at) the dump station as you enter the campground.

Everyone who dry camps at any campground anywhere has the same issue.  Like most, the NPS expects you to fill on your way in and dump on your way out.  Works fine unless you are gong to use more water than the tank holds...
