We are new to Popup camping. We bought a 2004 Palomino Yearling. The only problem we have so far, in practicing setup, is with the 2 piece door. We were told to not put the top up all the way, but still takes a long time to get it right. We did have it level (or so we thought). Any suggestions?

Congrats on the new pup and welcome to the forums.  Sorry I can't help with the door, my Fleetwood door is 1 piece.

J-D:   think I've seen a simular post here (or someplace) about not raising the top all the way, but makes no sense to me. I have the two piece door on my Starcraft, too, but ALWAYS raise the roof to the specified level. The only problem I've ever encountered with the door is not having the camper level, especially side to side.

Some time ago (like maybe YEARS!) - there was some talk here of having the awning set-up and maybe tied off too snug, whereas it would pull on the top of the camper and have the same re-action as not being level.

I have a Palomino.  I raise the top all the way up, put the door up, and then velcro the sides to the door, then put the support bars in the bunkends.  If you do it that way, it should work fine.  The two piece door is a little bit difficlut to put in, make sure the little tips on the bottom part on the sides of the top part of the door fit into the chanels on either side of the door, if they are not in correctly, the door will not fit.  Hope this helps and you understand what I am saying.  Good luck.

Welcome to PUT!

Before the Jayco I had a Palomino.  I found the same things to be true as the previous posters ... it had to be darn near perfectly level and it worked better to do the door before the bunk end supports.

Let us know if this information helps.

Former Pal owner here - we also had problems with the door if we were not perfectly level.  In my case, it was not a problem to actually fit the door in place but when anyone got on the front bunk end, the door would not stay shut.  We ended up using a bungee cord at night to keep the door closed.
