OK, I've read through all of this thread and created a page covering this issue.

Having recently replaced my axle/springs combo on a Flagstaff, I worked closely with the factory.  They use Alko-Kober axles and the recommendation was to jack on the longitudinal rail either in front of or just to the rear of the spring attachment point.  Do not jack on cross members, or the axle, or the springs.

If changing a flat, brake the lugs before jacking.  Keep the trailer hitched - provides stability on a front to rear axis especially when one wheel is off the ground.  R&R the wheel, tighten lugs, lower and then torque the lug nuts.  I use between 90-100 ftlbs of torque.

Day or night I set out flares to warn traffic.  I use the newer kind:
 LED Light Flares

I have not had to use them or change a flat on the camper.  I did have to on another trailer though.

Good luck, use your head, and be safe.

Just a correction:

Start to raise the jack until it exerts pressure under the frame, but do not fraise the tire off the ground at this point

Other than that, great stuff.
