Today I did some maintenance on the PU. I replace the anode on the hot water heater. We have only had the PU for just over a year and not a lot of trips. My friend, who goes out more often than we do, said he changed his and it looked like Swiss cheese. I went by Camping world Friday and picked up a new one along with this spray tube to flush the tank out. Well when I removed the anode it was worse that my friends and we always use a filter. The stuff that rinsed out was much more than I anticipated. I am a believer in this as a yearly thing now. Just thought I would pass it along as one of the spring things to do list items.

I flush the water heater several times a year, not just in the spring.  In fact it is easier to get the gunk out after you have been using the water heater.  If you wait until the gunk is dry it can be harder to get out.  I drain the water heater every time we leave a campground.  I had the same anode rod for 4 or 5 years when I replaced it.  If you leave water in the tank it will eat the anode rod faster.  It also depends on what the water is like.:)
