Awning Channel Rope

We need to replace the rope that allows our awning to slide through the channel on the camper itself.  Does anybody know what thickness rope it takes or the easiest way to slide it through.  The old rope is disintegrating so the ends popout.

Thanks once again and Happy Mother's Day!

I don't know the diameter of the rope, but here's what I would do to replace it:

1. Get some strong fishing line - like maybe 20 lb test or something like that.

2. Thread the fishing line through a strong needle and "sew" it into one end of the old awning rope.

3. Pull the old awning rope out of its jacket, starting at the end opposite where you sewed the fishing line in. (This will pull the fishing line into the rope jacket.)

4. Cut the fishing line off from the old awning rope and sew it onto the end of your new rope.

5. Use the fishing line to pull the new awning rope back through the jacket.

Now a caveat. I haven't done this, and I have no idea how workable it is. But this is the first thing I would try if I were going to do the job.

Thanks for the fishing line idea, that "should" work great.  Will keep you posted.  Unfortunately, it keeps raining here today so it probably will not happen this weekend :(

Normally it's 1/4", but wait till you get to look at what's there before buying a replacement.
