Was just wondering if there are any other single camper types out there? Either with or without campin' kids. And any comments on how singles camping may differ from the family campers...

I know, I'll make a poll....

A poll??  Wow.  What an awesome idea.   :D

Biggest thing for this single camping mom ~ camp with a group whenever possible.  Especially a group full of kids!

Hi Kelly,

Group camping is always great, hopefully someone else remembered what you forgot & vice verse. ;)
And I totally understand having other kids along to help distract and occupy yours. It works out great for all :)

Another reason I usually end up camping in group is that am usually involved in activity in camping area such as bicycling, diving, hiking, climbing, that I am meeting others to do. Some tent camping, others drive in with a class A,B, or C, some with PUP's like me. Some just crashing in their cars.

Of course, when I do have a current SO with kids, things get pretty family style. And at this point in my life, the camper is less of the mobile party palace and more the comfortable and relaxed after dive/biking/whatever kick back spot anyway.

hmmm.. not sure how to vote on this.....I pack it, hitch it, tow it , set up, doo all the cooking and the dishes.  but since DH is there  I gues it means family camp

I wasn't sure how to vote here - I'm single, no kiddos along but I'm usually (ok, always) camping with at least one sister, sometimes two.  So, maybe I should have selected family camping?  ;) We often camp with a group, too, which tends to be a mix of pop-ups, hybrids, TT's, etc.

The key here, I presume, is Do you consider yourself "single" and "available"?

If, while camping, would you want to, or be open to, meeting somebody special and forming a relationship.

NadMat

For those of you having trouble deciding where to vote in poll, a little clarification.

Single Solo - Not married, engaged, or living with a SO & no kids of your own.

Single w/ Campin' Kids - Single but with kids aqquired along the way

Family Style - married, engaged, living with SO, with or without kids.

Dee, Family style is correct choice for you and DH, even if it feels like solo sometimes to you.:)

Cyclone, Single Solo sounds correct for you. Unless you are not yet adult age, and are still camping with folks and siblings.

Zamboni, you got it pretty close, although 'available' not even necesarry, just < full commitment. Exclusive ok as long as has not got to exclusive forever stages.

I am single, but have camped with my adult kids and 5 dogs. I bought my Bayside in March.  If I am going to get some use out of my pup, then I am going to have to do some solo camping.

Ok, I voted right.  :D

Hey msue looks like your just up I35 from me. I am up to dallas several times a year with work stuff. Plus was up in that area a bit while little bro' was going to TCU.
Don't forget to vote, family style is way outnumbering us single types.

What type of campin' do you like most? Do your trips tend to be activity driven, where you journey to a spot to pursue a particular activity or are you just camping to camp and get away from din of civilization. Either way, Texas state parks are great. With gas prices where they are, I predict I will be camping close to home this season, probably out around lake georgtown, lake travis, and lake buchanan. And either truck/tent camping or borrowing buddies pup as mine is in first stages of major overhaul.

In past I have done a lot of solo camping, just heading out with dog and camper, maybe bike or canoe strapped to truck. So many places to go in Texas that you can't always wait till others schedules happen to mesh with yours. Besides the Texas State parks, remember to check out the county and especially corp of engineers parks.

Have fun campin' msue, this is sure the season for it :)

Would at least be easy to find a campground with enough sites.

Only 4 single campers out there? So where should we hold our Rally? Maybe combine this thread with the one on Mexico and have rally in Playa Del Carmen :D

Any more single campers lurking out there? Show us your votes. Just joking about the rally, we wouldn't want to exclude our married friends. Camping wouldn't be as much fun without the trials and tribulations of all our married friends and their families to watch. ;) Much better than tv. :D

I voted wrong after looking at the other posts.  I camp with three (and sometimes four) of my grandkids. The smallest one is 2 and I don't usually bring her solo. Her Mom and Dad join us. My DH is not much into the RV scene. His is Harley country, which I don't do (I've lived too long to take myself out on a freeway with a semi). He will come along for a day or two and then he goes home. I love spending time with the kids on an outing and they love to camp, so we have great times (besides, they are wonderful help setting up the pup. My grandaughter, 15, can figure out how to set up ANYTHING). We take the pup to out-of-the-way swim meets for weekends, as well as week to ten-day outings. Looking forward to a great camping summer.  :D

I voted, single with kids, but I am married.  DH does not camp!  Sometimes I camp alone, or just with one of our dogs.  I hope I voted correctly.:)

I am just single and camp solo in my pup.
