Selling tow vehicle, need to REMOVE brake control!

I'm suddenly trading in my Chevy Colorado and realized I need to remove my trailer brake control, which is installed under my dashboard. Any advice on how to remove this from the truck? It doesn't have a clean/nifty harness or anything -- a bunch of wires leading from the brake control to under the dash.

I'm no electrician, but I'm capable of unhooking the truck battery and chopping away at wires if need be :)

Help appreciated!

If it's not a plug and play here's what you can do.

1) DISCOUNT THE NEGATIVE SIDE of the Battery

2) Cut each wire leaving as long as possible lead from the brake controller.

3) Either use wire nuts on each lead (should be four of them) and or tape off the end which is remaining with the truck.

4) Remove the fuse (if you know where they are) for the hot brake lead and the 12 volt lead that was your charging line. If you  don't know where they are just notify the dealer that those lines are still hot but they are capped off.

5) Reconnect the Negative side of your battery.

6) Have a cold beer, job well done  :D

Have the dealer agree to remove it and return it to you at the time you turn the car in.

Thanks! Easy as pie (actually, easier than replacing the faucet in my pop-up this weekend).

The beer sounds like a good idea. Cheers!

(The dealer says their service department is booked, and, as it seems I do everything over the Internet, the dealer is 50 miles away, so I really don't want to make another trip. )

"You" will always do a better job than the dealer. Why they might just cut the wires anywhere and not leave long enough leads to work with on the next TV installation. ANYTIME you can do something yourself, do it and you know it was done right and wouldn't come back to haunt you on some lonely stretch of black top in  the middle of nowhere, USA.
