I just bought an 83 Columbia and I am going to try to install a window a/c unit. The problem I am running into is the ends of the main body are kind of rolled and the benches that I was going to install under are to short to accomedate the unit. I thought about doing the stand thing through a window but my wife seems to think that looks to *redneck*! Any hints, suggestions or good looking redneck solutions would be greatly appreciatted..lol

I also have an 83' Coleman Columbia.
Since the unit has such a small bed (8Ft), I opted to build a Stand for a small Window Unit. Last year, I purchased a new Canvas from Bear Creek, and I use my AC unit with the Window closer to the Sink/Stove area.
I built my AC stand to mount on the side og the Unit when its in its open position with support brackets that have rubber so as to not scar or dent the side of my unit.

Rest assured, it does not look redneckish, and cools the unit very quickly.

(and Yes, I know RedNeck, Being in an area where NASCAR is a way of life)

I considered cutting into the back wall to support the AC, However, due to the small bed and not wanting to deface the unit, I decided to make the brackets and have been happy with that decision.

I noticed you have the "Rememberin #3" on your profile...If you are ever at a race in Virginia or NC, Look for an 83' Coleman with the #8 on the door...Stop by and I will gladly show how I constructed the AC bracket.

Thanks for the replys. And yes the pic. that you linked me to Wavery is definetly redneck (looks like some of the cars here in the southside of the city..lol). Is there anyway you could post some pictures or email me some kind of drawing on your stand Revelations. And you didn't specify if the new canvas was designed differently than the original because the original canvas is about 8 inches higher than the frame of the main body. Any type of instructions would be great.
