Hi All,
Well it getting to be camping time again. My wife and I and our two boys just purchased a 2005 Fleetwood Sea/pine, and we are just starting to load her up. I am quite handy myself, and I would love to see your best/favorite MODS. I have done a search and come up with a few here and there, but if we could get them all together it would be great for us newbies and seasoned veterans. So post your write ups and photo sites.    ;)

Well, you can take a look at mine. Only a couple, but they are functional.

Here is a link to my mods...  Good luck in your modding quest!!!  I need to place a disclaimer on the rear bike mount...  SEE prior posts around the potential dangers with sway before anyone makes this mod....  I almost lost the trailer the first time I used the rack as I did not have the bikes tied down tight enough along with my sway friction bar not tight enough...  The rack started to bounce and the rear sway began.......

All the other mods are safe!  Central vac, outside speakers, plumbing, inverter, wiring mods, exhasut fan install, electronic mods, etc, etc.....

Not a lot yet, but then again, I'm just getting comfortable with drilling, and messing with the new toy.  We just got the camper last July, and spent all winter dreaming of things to do.

First is the back up lights, these were high on the priority list, as we very frequently arrive after dark.  Next was a carrier for a second tank, I didn't like just tossing it in the back of the truck.  Finally, an over head shelf system for the galley.  I didn't feel comfortable drilling into the roof, not knowing how much weight it can support, so I gathered up some of my favorite stuff to play with, PVC.  The shelf will be mainly for breads, chips, paper goods, ect.  Nothing heavy like iron skillets and such.

David,
Thanks for the idea! I liked it, but decided to mod your mod a bit. I wanted something similar, but one that would hold some significant weight. So, after some thought and a shopping trip to Lowe's, I came up with this. Rather than PVC, I bought and used some more ClosetMaid stuff. I bought two packages of their white-painted, upright steel supports. These are 1/2"-square "tubes", and they come with pre-drilled holes and shelf-support clips. There are two uprights per package. They also come with plastic joiners that are meant to connect two of the square tubes together length-wise. Rather than use these as intended, I cut them down the middle and screwed them to my lower galley-platform and used them as bases for the uprights. With a total of four uprights, I was able to support all four corners of my shelf. To keep it from wobbling I added an angled cross-brace across the back and an angled cross-brace to the right side and another on the left. I used 1/2" flat aluminum for the cross braces.

The whole thing is pretty strong, and easily taken down and folded up for travel. It also looks good, since all the ClosetMaid stuff is painted white and has a good fit-and-finish.

The total cost for materials was about $35. If I decide to add a second shelf, I can do so for a mere $4 additional. (The shelf is 4' wide by 12" deep.)

I'll take some pics and try to figure out how to post them.

Again, thanks for the original idea!

Here are mine.

Nothing as sophisticated as some of the others here, but they are my first.

I got tired of having problems with the factory table tops and decided to replace them with 3/4" oak plywood.

Enjoy!

My link below shows some pictures of our 83 Coleman Columbia that we just purchased for $500. We are starting to modify it as we speak with privacy curtains and a little touch up paint and then on our first camping trip in it!!! Can't wait...no more sleeping on the ground..hoorah!!. When we get back hope to install A/C and a few more gizmos on the inside, I would appreciate any hints or suggestions also...Thanks in advance.
