HI, all!

We're going to VLR over the July 4th weekend, and I was wondering if anyone happens to know if there are any trails within 20-30 minutes of the cg where you can go dirt bike riding?  I don't want to load up the motorcycles (they're only little XR75's, but still..) if there's nowhere nearby they can ride them.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  Anyone else going to be there that weekend?  We're going out on Saturday and coming home on Tuesday.

Thanks,

TheViking

Thanks,
You should ask Lori(Griffsmom) that question.  She has been there a few times.  Nice place.

Hmm that a good question. I think most of that is north on the 15 in the desert more like an hour away. Did you ask the folks at VLR??

Even though we've been to VLR "a whole much of times" I'm not aware of any dirt bikes trails near there.  As we've driven the road to the cg, I have noticed some trails on the right that looked like they would be fun on a mountain bike, and you may be able to ride your dirt bikes on them as well.  Sorry to not be of more help.  Dee's suggestion of calling VLR is a good one. :)

Yes, it looks like I'll have to give them a call!  But I'll do that next week.  Today we're going to PISMO!!

Can't wait....we haven't had the trailer out in almost a year!

Haven't seen the PUTers since, I think it was May of last year!  Wow, time flies!

I am the organizer for the upcoming Vintage Trailer Rally and Hot Rod show being held at Vail Lake Resort on July 15, 2006, http://vintagetrailercrazy.com/_wsn/page4.htm

As a long term resident in the surrounding area of Wine Country, Temecula (5 miles from Vail Lake Resort) there are dirt bike trails everywhere!!!! You can leave from Vail Lake Resort and cruise upstream on the  creek. Also, in Wine Country there is riding everywhere. Just look around off DePortola Rd. or Mesa Rd. and you'll see them. There is very little fencing on Mesa Rd so away you go!!!!

Hopefully, you can stay long enough for the Vintage Trailer Rally and Hot Rod Show on July 15. There will be hot air balloon rides, hay ride wagons, food, crafts and hot rod vendors, Blues Bands, 120 restored Vintage 1930's - 1960's trailers, 300+ Hot Rods and on and on. There will be something for everyone. See //www.vintagetrailercrazy.com for more info.

Have fun

This looks like it would be a lot of fun and I am sure its all booked up by now. but since you are the organizer, it would be great if you hosted or brought up this event next year for the SCCampers group to consider on there yearly campouts. Man this looks like fun, wish I could go this year

Oh, this rally looks so fun....I know my girls (and us adults) would get such a kick out of seeing the vintage trailers!!  However, during July....it is kind of HOT!  Do you all do the vintage rally more than once a year...elsewhere...in cooler times?   :)
