I just completed (almost Have to connect the brake wires) raising my PU. I did an axle flip and raised the PU 4". I can now fit a 24" dia tire, which I will do soon, which will raise me another 2". I'm a happy camper (Pun Intended). I will try to post photos tomorrow.

I'm sure 24" is a typo...looks to me like you mean a 14" tire.  You'd have to be going from a 10" to a 14" tire to raise it another 2".

Peter,
 Thanks for sharing the photos. Looks like the work turned out as you expected.

 I found this site  Greenball Trailer Tires  that you may want to look at for sizes.  I think you may find that to get the O.D. of 24" you will have to go with a 13" tire B78-13 ST (ST 175/80D13).  My caution here is the Rim Width.

 If you can safely bolt a wider rim without rubbing or some other interference then I believe you 'got-it-made.'  Photos look like you have vertical clearence.

 Keep us posted on final outcome.
 Nice work and happy camping.

What's your point?

 Check the link I posted...look for O.D. column... That Outside Diameter of the tire. Just what he was talking about. a Diameter of 24"

 I rest my case.

Sorry for the confusion. Yes a 24" Tire sitting on a 13" rim. I think I saw a 175 D80 13. Thanks for the links and the heads up on width, I hadn't thought of that. I'll check it out.
Thanks

Ugh!! You didn't put bias tires on, did you?
the "D" in the D13 signifies bias...if you ever get a flat and need a replacement on the road, you will be hard pressed to find one of them, without delay.
I would recommend a 175 80 "R"13 radial tire. They run much better (less drag), are easier to find and last longer. Just don't run a radial and bias together on the same axle. This could cause a serious sway issue.

Psl53

Wow, I did not know that and will want radials, thanks for the info.

Looks good!  A couple bigger tires and that ole Taos 'ill be as sexy as those RT Starcrafts!  I can't tell from your pics, but the spare on my '02 Taos mounts on the front just behind the LP tank.  Will your bigger spare fit in the original mount?  Or do you have plans to mount it in the back?

Take a deep breath.  Go back and read my entire post, including what I quoted...and notice who I was quoting...if then you still don't get my point, I'll spell it out for you.

Here is the math behind this, for a 175 80 13:

A=330.2mm Rim Size
B=175mm tread width
C=80% the middle number on the tire, in this case 80, is the height of the tire from rim to tread measured in percentage of the tread width (B)

C=175 x 80%= 140mm

A+(Cx2)= 610.2mm or 24.02"

My case in point is just because you increase the rim size by 4" does not necessarily mean the overall wheel height will increase by 2"
you must calculate the height of the tire, and then add the numbers together.

If you had a 175 60 13 the tire height would be only 21.27"
