Day 3 of our summer camping trip our inside lights (12v) went out. The quick fix, bring in the takcky lights. I check all the fuses and all were ok.  It has two breakers in the same panel and both were ok. I feel that the converter has gone bad.  I am seeing big dollars at the parts counter. Are there any other fixes other than replacement of the breaker box/converter?

If the converter is a centurion then there is another fuse. A 7.5 amp buss fuse INSIDE the converter. It's there to protect the circuit board from reverse polarity but has a habit of blowing for no apparent reason.

Well since it wasn't the internal fuse, what we do next is pull the sucker out of what is usually a place that's difficult to work on and open it up on the bench to test it. I don't know why we do it because we always end up replacing it. If not that time the next time it acts up.

As an FYI WFCO makes a model that's designed to replace the Centurion converter. You get a better converter, a good three stage battery charger section, and best of all reliability. Just click the Best Converter link near the top of the page.
