Hello Everybody!  The better half and I just bought a 2001 Jayco Heritage Potomac.  It's in excellent condition, used only 12 times, all options but a/c, and we can't be happier!  51 year old bones have a hard time getting up off the ground in the morning, and I hope this will make our camping adventures a little better.

We paid just under $ 5,000 for it, and it the feature I like the best is the slide out dinette...seems to have a lot more space inside.  Was this a good price? (Dunno why I ask now, the cash is gone - maybe you will make me feel a little better!)

I guess now the questions start...what problems do I look for, what problems should I expect, and will my 96 Tahoe have any problems towing this thing?  I think the dry weight is around 2600.  The PU does have hydraulic surge brakes on it.  Is there anything special I need to know about these?

Any and all comments and or opinions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks and we now look forward to camping the rest of the summer and on into fall!

Congrats.  To ease your buyer's remorse, I think you got a good deal.  NADA lists yours at between approx. $5,800 (low) and $7,000 (average).  I was guessing at some of the options, but that should be fairly accurate.

I've never towed a camper with surge brakes, so I couldn't help you there.

As far as your Tahoe being able to handle it, that shouldn't be a problem.  You're good to go!  Enjoy!

I had a Jayco with the surge brakes and LOVED them.  Just make sure the fluid reservoir is full and have the brakes inspected and adjusted, if need, along with the wheel bearings greased each year.  Have fun with the new camper.  I loved my Jayco.

Sounds like a deal! You better go and give the seller a few hundred more so you can sleep tonight  :)

Congratulations on the new PU.  It sounds like you got a great deal.  Have a great time in the camper.:)

The only thing I can add to the above post is, if you don't have one on your TV(tow Vehicle) get a trans cooler.

Welcome to the board :)
