We visited a new campground this past weekend - Twin Grove Park and Campground in Pine Grove, PA.  This park has been around for many years - first as an amusement park and later adding the campground.  It is huge and well laid out.  Not much shade especially for RV's but the sites are a good size and there is lots of open area around so you don't feel "hemmed in".  We actually got a site that was large enough to park our 30" TT, open up our awning, and still be far enough away from the fire ring to have a campfire!!  Nice change from a lot of the campsites we have had lately where we had to choose between opening the awning or having a fire.  The campground has a lot to do - swimming pool, volleyball court, horseshoes, amusement park area with the original carousel, ferris wheel, one of those inflatable bouncing houses, miniature golf, fishing, paintball, and laser tag.  They show movies on Wed evening and have activities and entertainment most weekends in the summer.  They also have a full-service restaurant with a buffet (we had a clambake buffet this past weekend), a pizza parlor and sandwich shop, an ice cream shop with about 30 flavors of "soft" (yes soft) and hard ice cream.  Try the soft serve flavors of Irish Creme and Kaluha mixed together - to die for!.  Pine Grove (nearby town) also had sidewalk sales and garage sales this past weekend which was a fun thing to do Sat morning.  IT IS A KOA - so you can get your discount if you have a KOA card.  Negatives - we had some trouble at check -in - some confusion as we had booked 2 sites and we each got there at different times using different credit cards and taken by phone downpayments.  (They had charged each of us for the full cost of both sites - took some time to get that straightened out.)  ALso, the staff wasn't quite as friendly as you find at most KOA's - at least the ones we had been too, but they were still very nice.

Anyway I would recommend this as a great family camping ground, but you really need more than a weekend here to enjoy everything.  They even have a little train that will pick you up at your campsite and take you to the various activities and areas.

NO NO NO, not even close.:)

I camp at Twin Grove Park/Pine Grove KOA, but only off season.  They used to have more shade trees and then they cut most of them down.:(   The restaurant is good most of the time and off season you can get sites not close to other campers, but for me, in the summer they are too cramped.:)

No - the park is just some leftover rides from earlier days, but they do have a nice carousel and ferris wheel, mostly for younger set of children.  Yeah - shade was lacking, and crowds can get big, but all-in-all it was a nice weekend and a close alternative for us in an area we live near, but never have a reason to go to!!  But the facilities were great and I would think it would be a great place for families to go.
