We had one until Fridays  rain came. We were away from camp enjoying a nice leisure dinner. The rains stared unexpectedly, we had an EZ up... the material did not fit the top exactly tight...it filled with rain water while we were gone and collapsed, no it mangled the frame....this was the 4th time we had used it.   This is what we found when we removed the water loaded top.

Lucky for us today was the last day of possible return....we got a full refund from K Mart...we are now of to buy a new larger QUICK SHADE...no more badly designed EZ ups for us. We also had a 10x10 Quick Shade set up and it came thru like a champ!

Sometimes in an effort to make them light enough to carry they don't add enough cross braces, especially in the big ones like you had Marcy

My 10X10 Quest with a screenroom attachment from Dicks Sporting Goods took a beating at Assateague. A thunderstorm came through after midnight. This was my screenroom sailing adventure. Dicks had sold me an extended warranty that they said covered "everything". It didn't, but they admitted they goofed by telling me that and gave me a new one including the screenroom attachment.

ANd this was after we "glued" it back together. It had a couple of broken braces and bent parts.

LOL you two must have some parties when camping.:D

My Paha Que has with stood several storms at Assateague Island.:)

Our EZUp has lasted about 8 yrs so far but it's the old style (heavy duty, white top). The downside is it weighs alot more than the newer (cheaper) shorter blue? top ones. Unfortunately, the top fabric has stretched throughout the years and now collects water in 2 corners. I will either have to sew it in those corners or get a new top...

My Paha Que had two broken poles from a storm in my yard. They sent me new ones with no charge though.

Glad you posted this information and the pix. Always looking for a newer screen room that might fit the bill better for what we do. Seems they run from cheap where they have to be replaced after a few short uses; or they're so expensive that you have to get a second mortgage on the house in order to buy it! And some of them are so heavy that they are just not practical to tote along in the event they're not needed ( but when they are ... they're NEEDED). Some time ago we made a trip to Michigan's upper peninsula to fish the St Mary's River, not too far from Sault Ste. Marie, and encountered those biting black flies. The previous experience I had with those critters was a fishing trip to Canada but somehow that experience had slipped my mind. Well, that Michigan trip brought it all back! Those flies would even bite through shirts and even through the blue jeans I was wearing! We were forced to retreat inside the camper in order to eat our meals in peace.

After the collapse of ours we were walking around the CG and found a clever way to stop the water collecting (yeah, just a little to late for us) that others were doing to their shelters. They placed Hula hoops between the material and the frame. That kept the material pushed out enough to stop any puddling.

Those black flies are tough little things , we do have our QuickShade still and the attachable screen for that.

The EZ up was supposed to give us a little more space cause of the size in the shade or rain. I'm searching now for a replacement bigger than the 10x or 12x QuickShade. Not having a ton of luck. We may just say screw it and go back to telescoping poles, ropes and very large tarps.

We have the 10 x 10 Caravan from Costco. It came with 3 side walls and is great.

Did you have it staked out with a bunch of guide ropes?

Yep, every one of them, a lot of stakes including the ones that held the room down.
The problem I had at Assateague is probably more related to the short stakes that came with the screen room and less with the quality of it. I bought a bunch of long stakes when they gave me the new screen room at Dicks Sporting Goods.
