Are there any group campouts from this forum? I am in Western NC near Asheville and would love to meet new folks at a group campout. I didn't see any headings suggesting such on the forum list.
God bless, Doreen

I am sure there are group outings here like on many of the other sites. I am new here myself so I can't really say much yet because I'm still getting the feel for this site.

I will say this however, my wife and I may be relocating to NC soon in the near future. She is contemplating a career move down there and she tells me the town is named Hickory, NC. Should we move down there we would love to find folks to go on campouts with. We have three children, our son is 19 serving in the Air Force and the two girls are 15 &13.

So who knows maybe we could go camping with you someday soon. Plus it would be great to know someone who could show us around NC.

Here's what your looking for....Contact the Carolina Campers at South East Popup Campers, SEPUC.com. The Carolina Campers has almost seven hundred members of all ages who live in North and South Carolina. We all love to camp and have planned group trips often..We always have plenty of good food, lots of good fun with plenty of things to do for the kids... Give us a shout, you will be welcomed by all.........

Thanks for the tip on the group. I'm checking it out now.
Hickory is about an hour and a half from us. they have just about everything you could want there. On the other hand, where we live in Petticoat Junction!  I said I had culture shock when I moved here almost 7 years ago. The people are soooo great here compared to some I ran into up North where I was born and raised. Here they help each other. There's a saying that describes it: The best thing about living in a small town is that if I don't know what I'm doing, everyone else does!  That's about how it is here. We love it here, (me and my son) but it's very hard to make a living since the town is so small. We are thinking of moving to the Pigeon Forge, TN area. I'm a crafter and there's a lot of outlets there for me to sell. Also, many more jobs at higher pay.
thanks again, Doreen

We are about to have a huge craft show here the first weekend of August. You can find out about it on the chamber site. We're about 45 NE of Asheville.

Oh wow Doreen, you and my wife would get along like two peas in a pod! My wife also does crafts and hand sews primitive style dolls and such. She also paints and she should have been an artist. I also helped her many times with her projects in my woodworking shop. I make scaled down versoins of old wagons and horse carriages. I even make the wagon wheels from scratch because we couldn't find any vendor with wheels big enough for what we do. One of my best pieces was an scaled down version of an antique spinning wheel and everything worked on it. It measures 18" long by 10" high x 4" wide.

Thanks for your info on NC and I wish you the very best of luck on your craft fair.

doreenb, Wife and I will probably be up to that craft fair in August. We both have our own home business's..She does embroidery and teaches quilting. I design and build custom furniture and restore antique furniture. We are always looking for antique shops and craft fairs in our travels...We are about an hour away from your neck of the woods..We will surely look you up if we get to the fair..........

Doreen,

In addition to SEPUC NC Campers there are a couple of other groups you may want to check out:

Yahoo Group CarolinaCampers
This group is dedicated to PopUp Camping by individuals primarily living in the Carolinas. Membership is open to anyone interested in the outdoors and having great family fun camping in a Popup Camper.

Yahoo Group Georgia Campers
vey similar to the Carolina group.  They are very active and camp on the GA/NC border many times.

thanks, I'll check them out.
