HI ,
I have'nt camped down the jersery shore in the last 5 years or so, which ones do you like and which ones are terrible. Thanks!

Unfortunately, I haven't camped there in quite awhile either.  But...

Our first time camping as a family was over 10 years ago at Allaire State Park.  At the time, we lived in Manasquan, about 15 minutes away.  It's a very small campground, and always packed in the summertime.  We usually went there in September or October for a quick weekend.

My favorite place was Bass River State Park - about an hour south of Allaire.  Big campsites (the biggest I've seen) and a big lake in the middle of a cedar forest.  The lake actually turns red from the cedar roots.  It took the kids awhile to get used to that, but I thought it was pretty cool.  The lake can get pretty crowded during the summer weekends.

If you're into military planes, the campsite is just south of McGuire AFB's live bombing range.  National Guard squadrons from all over the east coast use the range.  On weekends, we could see F-16's in dogfighting exercises and A-10's doing strafing runs with their front-mounted cannon.  Don't get me wrong - the campsite is perfectly safe, and you're far enough away.  But if you go out to the lake, you'll be treated to a free airshow that is just totally awsome!!!

We stayed at the Blueberry Hill CG in Port Republic, NJ last year.  We loved it.  The CG was sold before we got there but everything that was planned went on without a hitch.  The sites were nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful.  We like to go to Brigantine for the beach and that was about 20 minutes from there.

We just came back from North Wildwood Camping resort.  Actually they have new owners Adventure Bound.  We love it there.  They are the closest to Wildwood boardwalk & Beach.  They have large sites and very clean bathrooms.  We go a couple of times a year.  They have a guy that rides around in a cart selling fire wood around dinner time.  Very friendly.  I always make my reservations on line.  We have tried many in the area and every where we camped sites seemed to be on top of each other.

Thanks, I'll try there for reservations, we've also been to numerous cg's at the shore and they mostly have really tight/on top of eachother sites...are there any areas that are better than others to request???
