Hi all,

Hope this message finds all of you well!

For what I hope to be a short period of time...I'm going to be storing my larger 17' 1989 Coleman outside for the first time and I need a reasonably priced cover for it.

The local Surgard has a spot between two building that she might just squeeze into.  It it works out, I'm going to need a cover.  I've always had her stored indoors but I can't for at least another 4 month's or so.

The temps here in Phoenix have been brutal and I'd like to keep her covered so she won't be hit so hard with direct sunlight.

Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Take care.

Dwayne,
Do you have room in your side yard to add a portable carport like this one?

We had one of these for almost 5 yrs. in our AZ monsoons. It did very well. We did have the sidewalls and back on it also. We now have a permenant carport cover to house the PU and Boat.

We have also used an advco breathable cover on the PU but when it rains it does keep the humidity in on the underside along with some fo the dust and dirt. Just my thought.

Hope this helps.

You can purchase pop up covers from most camping supply houses.  HERE is one I found at CampingWorld.  However, most pop up manufacturers specific recommend against using covers because they may trap moisture and heat which can have an adverse impact on the roof and other parts.  It will aslo probably void your warranty.  Most cover manufacturers say their covers are "breathable" and that is supposed to elimanate those worrys.  I don't have a cover so I can comment on how well they work.  If you do decide to cover, do NOT use a plastic or poly tarp.  They will definitely trap heat and moisture.  Poly tarps can only be used like the previous posted suggested, as a cover on a frame that will allow air and moisture to circulate freely about the popup.

let us know what you choose and how it works out

Thanks for the advice,

I got the pu in the space and it is pretty well protected from three sides by 2-story walls.  So I think I may let it be for now.

It was tricky getting it in the spot though.  That's probably why it was available.  A large fire sprinkler supply pipe sticks out of one of the walls.  So there is only about 3-4 inches of space on either side of the pu when you back it in.
