I received a BAL Leveler for mothers day this year and just tried it for the first time today.  It fit around the tire fine but as I was trying to raise it up, the post/big screw thingy hit the bottom of my PU and I couldn't raise it very far.  Has anyone ever had this problem and been able to correct it?  If I can't correct the problem, I may have to return it from where I bought it.   Thanks.

Are you sure you are using it correctly?

Take a look at the photos that OzandUs has posted and see if his setup would work for you.

The large screw is angled away from the side of the popup provided the tip is placed correctly.

Let us know how you make out.

Do you have the bottom of the screw in the little "cup" that should be filled with grease?  Good luck with it.:)

ILUVTHEBEACH

yes to both questions.

It seems my tire is too far under my PU and I have  to put the BAL all the way under the PU.  This is not giving me enough "clearance" to raise it.

Is it possible for you to post a few photos of your problem/setup?

I think I understand your problem. I have seen some popups where it seemed like the tire was so far in, there was room for another tire on the outside!    But that also makes it sound like a very "short" tire (i.e., height of tire). If I am understanding correctly, I'm not sure how to fix it either. Again, pictures would be nice.

Are you sure everything on the BAL is attached correctly? Some have had broken welds and such. Just a dumb question, but did you try operating it by itself? Did it raise properly?

I went back to my PU yesterday to take some pics of my problem.  It does look like I will not be able to use it at all and have to ship it back.

Here is the problem.  After looking at different PUs through webshots and other sites I have discovered that most PU make access to your tires/wheels very easy.  Most tires are exposed via a "cut-out" around the tire or the entire wheel is exposed.  My tire is recessed under the camper and I do not have a cut out for the tire/wheel.  The bottom of my camper goes all the way across the entire length without any "cut outs". (a straight line all the way across the entire camper).  If I got a flat tire, I would have to jack up the trailer and crawl underneath of it to change it.  It would not be an easy job.

Therefore, since the camper itself gets in the way, the treaded post only goes up so far before it hits the side of the PU and does not raise the BAL very far which really sucks.

I will post my pics later tonight so you can see what I am talking about.

I'm with you now. I have seen that type of popup where there is no wheelwell opening. I think we were all trying to imagine why it wouldn't work, but our imaginations all left an open wheelwell in the picture! :)

Sorry you can't use the BAL. :( If it is any comfort, we have always used Lynx Levelers without problems. Never had to drive off and add or take away...I guess we are good guesstimators. I love my Lynx!

Thanks Larry.  I think that is the next step for leveling the camper at this point.

I have the Lynx levelers also and they do work great. Very easy to use, easy to clean, easy to store & carry. I wanted the BAL but my pup has the 8" wheels so it wouldn't have worked with that size, as BAL recommends only using it with 13" 14" 15" wheels.

I also purchased the Lynx chocks that snap into place and they work well in conjunction with the Lynx blocks. Very happy with Lynx so far.

As a suggestion, try to get the stick on levels for your pup that show how many inches you are off level.  When we got our pup, we leveled it exactly then stuck the levels on.  Now when I pull into a site, I just look at how many inches are needed on the low side, stack the Lynx, pull the pup on and it's just right.

Here is a link to what they look like.  I got mine at Walmart, but they don't have them pictured on their website.

I also have used Lynx levelers for years without the slightest problem.  Be sure to get at least one of the Lynx chocks. When you really need to level, then you probably really need the chock, too.  The Stop'N Chock also makes it easier to stop where you want to on the Lynx.  Both used to be available from the Pop-Up-Times store, but I was only able to find the chock:
