We recently spent 2 nights in the White Oak Campground in Strasburg, PA.  Their webpage can be found here.  This is in the heart of the Amish country in and around Lancaster, PA.  Strasburg is SouthEast of Lancaster.  We found this campground to have given us a wonderful experience.  The sites can be divided into 2 groups, sunny and shady.  The shady sites are all with a gravel base with grass surrounding.  The sunny sites are all grass sites, many in an open field.  In all cases, the sites were quite narrow.  The roads were paved.  There is a fairly well stocked store at the campground office.  A couple of playgrounds and a bathhouse round out the ameneties at the campground.  The campground was well kept.  Grass was neatly mowed and trimmed, roads were in good shape and the bathhouse was clean and well maintained.  Many of the sites were taken up by seasonal campers.  They had most of the shady sites.  We were located on site 29, sandwiched between two seasonals.  We were there on a Monday and Tuesday, so only about 4 or 5 of the seasonal people were actually at the campground.  There was a group of nightly campers right behind us taking up two sites there, I think that describes the sum total of the people at the campground for the 2 nights we were there.  It was really quiet at night.

The area features the Amish people of PA.  The Old Order Amish do not allow any utilities to be hooked up to their homes.  They want no attachments whatsoever with the outside world.  Talk about dry camping.  These people are the experts.  No hookups for life.  They do use propane and gasoline, and some of their machinery uses compressed air.  I don't believe they use generators or electricity in any way.  The clip clop of their horses and carriages on the highways and byways around Strasburg is ubiquitous.  Don't try to take their picture, they don't like it and don't appreciate it when you do.  They are quite friendly and very respectful if there is a need to interact with you, otherwise they keep their distance.  Strasburg also features a steam engine and train that can be ridden out into the countryside.  The narration that accompanies the ride is excellent.  They have a train museum and other features that can be enjoyed.  There are certainly other attractions to occupy your time throughout this area of PA.

All in all, we had a wonderful trip and enjoyed our stay at White Oak Campground.

For another campground in the area, check out my [thread=55857]review[/thread] of Country Acres campground.  About the only thing your place had an advantage on was that Country Acres is close enough to hear the traffic on route 30 until it dies down at night.

Your photos of Country Acres looks similar to White Oak.  Nice.
