Owning a vintage PUP, I may be one of the few who do not have a crank lift system. How many others still have the spring assisted lifts arms? The front arms don't seem very stable as they don't really lock like the rear solid arms do. Have any of you made or purchased braces for these? It wasn't a problem during our trip despite having teens bouncing in the front slide out bouncing around, but more for peace of mind. I'll include a pic for those who may not be famillar with this type system.

We have a Palomino with spring arms, but they are quite different from the one you pictured, at least in looks. Ours are pretty stable, and are locked in the "UP" position with pins.

I've got the same camper as Larry does.

Looking at yours, if its possible, you could drill holes through the pieces so you could lock them together with a pin.  Or you could fashion a sleeve to go around them--maybe a piece of PVC pipe with an inside diameter slightly bigger than the arms width.  Open the arms, slide this over the joint, and fasten in place with something--a pin, duct tape, etc.

I thought about the PVC, but I'd have to take the arms loose every time as there is not room for the pipe when folding down.  What I have come up with is a flast piece of aluminum with a hole cut out just large enough for the joint to go through, which attaches at both ends with u-bolts and wing nuts.  I'll post some pics if I ever get around to making them.  Any other ideas?
