In all my years of camping, I have never seen anything like this. Friday we head out to a little rustic campground. It was an impromptu trip. Friday was wonderful, only four other families camping, very very quiet. Saturday a few more families came in and all was fine. Saturday evening a young lesbian couple come in and camp next to us. Both were very nice girls, friendly and we had a nice talk. They were very affectionate to each other, kisses, hugs ok, nothing much we can live with it.
Well they started drinking and had some friends over and were partying. They wern't loud, no loud music everything was just fine. OMG, all hell broke loose about 10:30pm. The two girls got into a huge barroom brawl over some other girl that was text messaging girl #1. Girl #2 went into a jealous rage screaming things that I absolutely cannot repeat here. There were hits, slugging, shoves, unbelievable language (even for the hardest sailor). Then girl #1 wants to show girl #2 how much she loved her and slams her hand into a burning campfire, right into the hot glowing coals. Burns her hand very badly all up her arm and some on her face. She starts screaming in pain, girl #2 could care less at this point and screams at her to shut the "bleep" up. Girl #2 goes into the tent, Burnt girl #1 follows and there they get into a fist fight. Stuff flying around, tent comes crashing down (partially) and more language. Now burnt girl #1 grabs a knife and threatens to cut girl #2 throat. Instead she starts to carve herself up. All this time we were trying to get a hold of the park rangers (no luck) and trying to call the police (again no luck). Well things got quiet, none of the other drunk partiers could care less at was going on and was actually laughing about it. Well the rangers finally walked around the campground around midnight and made their way to the girls site. Apparently they had been watching them for a while during all this. They came over to them, talked to some of the partiers and then left. They did absolutly nothing. After they left the girls started up again but with just the argueing. ABout 12:30 am, someone decided it was time to take burnt girl #1 to the hospital. They got back to thier campsite sometime after 4 in the morning. There was more a lot more happening but it would just take to much time and thread to type it all.

But what I can't believe is that the park rangers did absolutly nothing to make the partiers leave or even get the girl to the hospital. As we left today, we went to the office and did a lot of complaining about what happened and what the night rangers didn't do. Whew, what an insane weekend.

It sounds like an awful night.  I would give the rangers the benefit of the doubt when it comes to what they saw.  More might have been done if people camping told the rangers what was going on when they came along.  :)

Wow is all I can say. Sounds like a scene from some movie! LOL

It might be worth contacting the ranger station and filing a report of the incident. If the one girls injuries were severe enough, there's likely to be some type of investigation at one level or another. A report from someone that witnessed the situation would be quite useful in determining whether or not further action should be taken against either the campers or the ranger (if it is determined by his superiors that he was negligent).

You might also check with the local police to see if they are investigating. It wouldn't surprise me if the hospital that treated the burns didn't file a report with the local police.

Just an idea or two...

Well I am never taking them camping again...

Just so I understand,  you were camping next to lesbians..... then they had more lesbians come over to party with them......then a cat fight between the lesbians broke out.........I'm sorry but I can't see the problem here! LOL  :D

I'm surprised the CG didn't charge you extra for the entertainment.  Looks like the Rangers saw it that way.

Man, how do you even respond to a post like this? Absolute insanity doesn't even seem to cover it.  :yikes:  What a total mess. You'll more then likely read about them in the paper sooner or later, and it may be in the obituaries...

and they say, "Stuff like that only happens in California".   hahahahahaha :J

Ya ya ya ya Jerry, a  C A T  fight ! ! ! ! !

Just FYI most states require by law that emergency rooms/doctors report to police any injuries of suspicious or unusual nature.  And from personal experience, they call for EVERYTHING.....

I'm Curious cause I'm not too far from Walled Lake Mi.. What Rustic campground are you talking about?  Is it Green LAke in the Waterloo Rec Area?

It's Highland Recreation Area in White Lake.  An equestrian campground.  We like it because we can bring the horses.  It is however nothing much, just 30 sites, very little to no shade, no hook ups, vault toilets.  basically just a big rolling open field with hitching posts.  The sights are huge and cost from $10 to $13 a night.
