I FINALLY convinced hubby that the thing had to go!!!

He was going to make a utility trailer out of it, but I showed him how impractical that would be (he wanted to leave the roof on).  It needs work and we paid way way too much for it when we bought it considering the shape it was really in (a previous owner put it to bed wet and it was mildewy, holes in the canvas.

I patched it prior to Watkins Glen this year, and we used it, he saw how impractical it was but tsill wanted to hang onto it so he could take out his grandkids...yeah right...I ahd to go along to set the thing up and take it down...

The neighbor is having major tree work done this week and we need toget it out of the way, some of them branches are huge and the camper is right where they need to put ladders.

The neighbor behind us had expressed interest in it a few weeks ago, but then Raymond had changed his mind (again and they say we women change ours sooooo often) for the utility trailer thingee...so with the need to move it and me explaining and explaing and explainging that doing what he wanted to do was NOT practical, he finally relented (I am not sure why I am even having this discussion, it is in MY name, MY credit union and Savings bonds were used to buy it so he should not ahve much of a say... right???) and I called the neighbor who is thrilled, especially with the price. FREE. Just get it off my property and get it out of my name.  His next door neighbor is also his girl friend's brother, they were raised popup camping and the neighbor's neighbor is also a handyman by trade...professionally...and can get the roof and back fixed in short order so HE can borrow it from the neighbor who is taking it off my hands!!

Now I will refrain from jumping up and down and doing the happy dance until after 5:00 PM tomorrow. when we take it down, turn it around and hitch it up so I can deliver to his driveway on the next street...

hey I still have 2 campers, 3 vehicles and 3 sheds in the yard and on the drives...I am only thining out my crops of toys!!!

Guess you'll have to change your signature too. :p

On a side note... did you take the Aliner out for a trial run yet? I'd be interested to see how you made out.

That's great, Paula. I know how you feel. I was very relieved the day the '42 Ford was towed out of our garage. It was a nice dream but my DH just never found the time/money to fix it up... I love cleaning out.

Well you are not longer a popuper.  Congratulations on the clearing of the yard.:)

Jim I have had the Cabin A out twice. Once for a week at the Rally in Bath NY, with the step-grand-daughter and the following almost week at Killens Pond here in Delaware.

It is quite a bit like the Bantam as far as the wet bath, the fridge, stove and sink are all biger.  I am not using the table, but using the benches as beds, they are the width of a regular sleeping bag. And I ahve no problem sleeping on them.  Raymond did not like them, but he so rarely goes...I just bought a memory foam that doubled in half will work nicely on one side.  I also have an older egg crate Becky gave me that I cut in half and cut down to fit each side AND a better, new egg crate, folded in half (I have 2 benches so the one I do not sleep on will get the older egg crate and the side I sleep on will get the memory foam and better egg crate so I will have plenty of support.  The table is going into the shed, there is just not enough room for that in the camper.

I bought an 11 gallon blue tote while at Bath NY since I was not on a sewer site.  That is bungee'd to the tongue and gas bottles.

Soon I will have a bag awning (not really happy about that but they do not make TT awnings that are 6' and I saw the problems tht Becky had with her box awning).  I will get one similar to the one Aliner sells for $524 (yeah you read that right) plus freight for $145 includes freight...that is some savings...

I have seen the benefits of out door showers...NO not to shower with, well not me anyway. But hot and cold running water on the outside of the trailer has it's advantages. One of them has been ordered and will be installed.

I cleaned out the jayco, will put the spare set of pans back in. Raymond wants to cut off the storage tube we bought to replace the tube that broke when I came off the drive with a low tire...the awning poles are in it...I am recommending to the new owner to get a shademaker awning, it will be one a whole lot easier to roll up.

Jim, you and your wife need to come either to Cunningham Falls (near Gettysburg for Columbus Day weekend OR Locust Lake in Sept, a little south of Hazleton off I 81 (come down 78 to the Cabellas, get off head North on PA 61, there are signs to Locust Lake well before 81, turn right. Cabellas is about 30 minutes or so from the campground). I'll give the grand tour...the parts man at Slicers looked inside and was suprised at just how much room there was...looks on the outside are very very decieving.

Well Paula how did it go?  Or should I ask did it GO?:eyecrazy:

I'm very familiar with Locust Lake -- we've camped there probably 8-10 times by now -- but unfortunately September is no good for us. Just about everyone in Jeanette's family, including her, has a birthday that month. It's a mad house for us. Guess I know what her whole family was doing in January every year...  :D

Sadly, Columbus day is out too; we'll be at Hickory Run on the 6th-8th. We're at French Creek 8/18-8/20 too. And we'll also be doing a Labor thing as well (before all the birthdays hit). Unless the weather holds out deep into October that will be it for us this year. :(

yes Tracy, it went, we popued it down, he thinks the canvas can be salvaged...he does not think the roof problem will be hard to solve either.

I used the minivan to tow it over...thankfully...

Turns out his street and drive is an obstical course...cars parked on the street including a pickup truck parked across the street from his drive...AND him and his neighbor (who happens to be his GF's brother) have adjacent drives, with a car parked in the neighbor's drive...oh yes the previous owners created a jungle with a path that leads to the front door...so plants and trees lined the other side...

It took 2 trys to get into the drive without getting into the jungle (remember there are cars parked all up and down the street limiting it to one lane) then as I was swinging, I had to keep away from the car in the other drive that was adjacent, I had about 9 or 10' to manuver side to side...I would pull up as close as I dared to the pickup on the street and straighten the trailer a little more each time, then backed in straight as far as I dared, he has one of those gardern gazebos with the canvas tops at the top of his drive...unhitching was the easy part...glad I used the minivan instead of the F150 (which initially was closest) for the length swinging and the clutch in the F150...Found out after all was said and done, the pickup truck??? well that belonged to the new owner of the popup (it does not have a hitch yet...If I would have known that I could have saved myself a lot of frustration and had him move the blamed thing... :swear: :banghead:

Paula be glad that you moved it.  Otherwise it might sit in your yard for a long time until he came to get it.  Now it is gone and out of your way.:D

Just in time too, a friend of Raymonds is coming to get the red bricks that was given to us about 12 years ago, we used about half of them and the other half have been sitting...AND the next door neighbor has commissioned a tree trimmer to trim the "trash maple" as I have heard them called.  It has huge branches hanging over our houses and the sheds AND the campers, so we cleared the drive so they can get their equipment in.
