Hello, I am new here and, to camping as well. Just looked at a used Viking pop up. It was real clean and, priced well. One thing I did notice though was quite a few gaps between where the canvass meets the box. Could this just be that it needs to be "played" around with to get a better seal or, is it something Vikings are known for? Sure could use any feedback, advice or, help. Thanks in advance. I did happen to notice the Viking header at the top of the page. Do they sponser this page?

We purchased our new-to-us Viking earlier this year.  So far, I have no complaints about quality.  Previously, we have owned a Starcraft (old and pretty beat up, but only cost us $500!) and a '92 Coleman (nice little unit, but several years old when we bought it, so there were a few minor issues).

In general, popups are not known for their quality of construction.  Just about every popup will have some issues.  I don't know that one brand is less susceptible to quality control issues than another.  You'll hear horror stories about virtually every make and model, along with praise for every make and model (just like cars).

I think you just have to look at the condition of the unit itself, and decide whether it's acceptable to you or not (along with the floorplan, size, etc.), rather than making any decisions based on the brand name.

Thank you for the insight. The over all condition is great. It is a 2003 and, looks like new. I cannot recall the model. It maybe a 170st? It is bare bones, no heatno fridge. It does have a small water tank and, a hand pump for the sink. We will be camping in warmer weather and, a dorm style fridge is cheap. I think we can get this one pretty cheap ( $1800). The idea is to get one cheap but, in good shape. If we like it, we may upgrade in a few years.

I love my viking's this is my second one.  We are going to be selling this one and moving on to bigger things.  I have not had any real problems with the canvas or anything else on the camper.  I just wished they sold a larger hard side rv.

Thank you and, good luck on your next purchase.
