White noise machine question

My DD has asked for a white noise machine for Christmas.  Where to find one?  I checked Wally World and Target on-line with no results.  Ideas?

I'll wrap up my roommate with a big pink bow and send him to her.  He snores very loudly and quite alot!

I've never heard of a white noise machine.  Target has the soothing sounds machine that plays ocean waves, dolphin songs, thunderstorms, and other nature sounds.  It turns off after a certain time, though.  I think Walmart might have the same thing.  Seems to me they were about $50 - $60.  Other than that, my roomie keeps his radio on at all times - don't think it's ever been shut off.  He can't sleep without some noise, so most of the time he's in front of the TV.

We bought one CD for my DD that has seashore sounds, and another CD that has small stream and forest sounds.  The CD's are certainly cheaper than a stand-alone machine.  Any Wallyworld or BestBuy should have them.

Retail stores like Bed Bath & Beyond , The Sharper Image, and Brookstone usually carry Homedics brand products, as well as their own house brand, and some other brands.

My grandson used one of those from the time that he was born until he turned 5. He couldn't sleep without it.

It was really cute. One weekend we went over to baby-sit. My wife always takes my GD into her room and reads her a story before bed and I would take my GS and read him a story. After the story it was, say your prayers, tuck him in, turn on the "White noise" machine and turn out the lights.

A few months ago, we went through the routine and when I went to turn on the machine, it wasn't there. I said, "Danny, where's your noise machine?". He said, "Oh grandpa, I don't need that thing anymore, I'm a big boy now". I almost broke out laughing but quietly controlled myself until the door was closed and I could share it with my wife.

I have a great one by Homedics- I bought it on Ebay about a year ago.  It has several different sound settings - ocean, stream, static, rain etc

My advice is to be careful with these sleep devices. You'll find that if you dont have it, you wont be able to sleep.

My wife turned me on to sleeping with a body pillow. I love that thing and have to have it now. My job requires me to travel and when Im in a hotel room I have to ask for a few extra pillows just so I can hug one and put another between my knees.

We went into WalMart a couple of years ago looking for a digital clock for the camper.  Found the model we now have, clock radio white noise generator.  It has crickets and frogs, seashore and chimes settings.  It cost us under $10, IIRC.  We use it on "noisy" nights camping when we want to mask out the campground sounds.

We bought a HEPA air filter for our daughter's bedroom when she was an infant (2 1/2 now).  We keep it on low to filter dust from the air, and it also acts as a sort-of white-noise generator -- helps block traffic noise and talking in the hallway.

When we watch a movie in the mostly-soundproof theater next to her room, we bump the filter to medium (rarely high) to ensure no loud explosions disturb her.
