Who do you think will win tonight?

I would like to see Ortiz win but I think Liddell will pull this one off again.

I see not too many MMA fans here...
Liddell won in the third round by tko

You mean my orthopedic surgeon Dr. Liddell is a boxer???;)

No, not a fan.:)

My mom, the elementary school counselor, was the biggest boxing fan if there ever was.  She LOVED the sport!!  Me, however, couldn't see the reason for two men pounding the heck out of each other.  I have no idea who these men are.  I'm just guessing you're talking about boxing....;)

Mixed Martial Arts

Combination of all of the fighting styles
Sometimes people get knocked out by a punch, kick or knee
Sometimes by getting choked out
Sometimes the loss comes by a submission, if you tap the mat or your opponent the ref will stop the fight. Tapping is kind of like saying "uncle"
And the rest of the time the fight ends by a judges decision.
There are many holds that will make poeple tap out. Some of them would result in a broken bone if you don't tap and others will put you to sleep slowly.

The ref will stop the fight if a fighter is no longer defending themself or if it looks like serious harm will come (like the broken bone)

Much more action than boxing. The fighters wear 4 oz gloves which are just knuckle protectors.

I like watching MMA more than watching 12 minutes of action in a 2-3 hour game with guys throwing an oblong pigskin and patting each other on the butts.:D

Never heard of it.  What network is it on?:)

Today it is on SPIKE all day long. SPIKE TV will be having its 5th reality series this year called the Ultimate Fighter.

Last fall it drew higher ratings in the 18-34 year old group than Game 1 of the American League Championship Series.

The big fights are all pay per view and Pay per view events usually have 5-6 fights including at least one title fight.
It is considered the fastest growing sport today.
