This Saturday at Doheny State Beach, the SoCal Chapter of the International Dutch Oven Society is having their annual beach DOG. Come on by and visit and around 1 PM there will be the DOG. Last year we had 48 DO's with wonderful food for everyone. We'll be in site 17 Friday night and cooking at the DOG on Saturday.

I'll be in site 50 Friday and Saturday nights.  The recent plan was for just Melissa and me to attend, but the ice storms cancelled Kristi and Jason's trip to the midwest.  If the weather is nice I think we'll all be there, otherwise probably just me- maybe Melissa.  I know for sure that I can't manage both kids while attempting to learn anything about DO's.

See ya there!

See you at the DOG!!!

I'm going to bring my coleman stove, my 10" DO and I'm leaning toward Chili's Chicken Enchilada soup.

Dee4j

well it's official I made my first real DO cooking. I made Chicken Enchilada soup.

even though I didn't use charcoals and did it on the stove, Lori & Paula said it still counts :p

I made it in a 10" Do. I was told it's a good sign when the DO is just about empty

I aslo won a DO lid lifter & and Apron in the drawing...hmmm..is someone trying to tell me something

Our 2 new hybrids to the group are really nice too.  Griffsfamily & azusateach both have nice new toys :-()

It was a really nice day.

Dee's soup was very good as was Moose's and Lori's contributions. Moos'e chocolate cake was to die for -- Can you say I need milk. Yum. And Dee was the big winner!!! The weather was lovely and everyone had a great time. If you have a Dutch oven and want to learn from the experts - Moose and his fellow Southern Cal. Dutch Society members please come on down to Doheny for the next Beach Dog in Jan. 08. Everyone is so nice and the food is unreal!!!

I want to go and camp next time..what do I have to do?

BootheBunch

We would have come down, if Bran had been in town.  Bran has always wanted to learn how to do a DO, so, who knows?  Maybe next year!!  Glad you all had fun!

We had a great time at the Beach DOG. It was fun having Dee and gang come by and have her cook her soup. Maybe next time she'll graduate to using charcoal since she won the lid lifter. We got to see Laura's and Lori's new rigs-nice. They'll be doing next years DOG at the same location, but no dates yet. There were about 48 Dutch ovens with food and 18 desserts.
