We just spent 2 days at Silver River State Park in Silver Springs.  We went to the Silver Springs theme park next door.  It was empty and the kids had a blast riding the rides continually.  I grew up n north florida but I havent been here since I was 10yrs old.  It is a nice place to visit if you are in the area.

The state park was very nice.  Empty also!  We were the only pop up in the park.  Only about 10 spots were taken.  We had the bathrooms to ourselves!!!  Private gravel sites were nice.  There is a Florida Cracker homestead and a natrual museum in the park. (only open on weekends) :usflag:   Very nice.

Haven't been to Silver Springs since I was 10 years old in 1973.  Sounds like somewhere Joanna and I and our new (due in March) daughter will have to visit.  Do they still have the glass bottom boats?  I remember the pigs swimming out to the boat to be fed.  Never knew pigs could swim!!

It is kind of troubling to hear that they were so empty.... many old school Florida attractions are having a rough go of it and not making money.  Guess most folks just fly down now to Orlando, do Dizzy and the lot there and jet back home.

Silver Springs still have the glass bottom boats.  No pigs though.  It was kind of depressing to see it empty.  I went there as a kid too and loved.  My three (5,7 and 11) had a great time there.
