Pop up storage.

Got a couple of plastic bins and ratchet straps the other day to use for storage on the pop up.  Bins fit between the A/C and hold down on either side.  Ran the ratchet straps over the top to secure.  Tugged like H*ll on them and they ain't goin' nowhere.  Had a couple of rainshowers and the insides stayed dry, not sure if that would be the case while driving, though.  Should be good to put items in that I don't mind getting wet if they do leak though.  Few pics below:

Looks good!  Being a duct tape kind of guy, I'd suggest duct tape on the leading edge of the lid to keep rain out while driving.

Pretty good idea. Amazingly, I have not seen this idea here or other camping sites. Simple but effective.

Question 1 what about front to back movement of the totes.

Question 2 adding weight to the rear of the PU/reducing touge weight.

The totes are not going anywhere.  I've got them ratcheted down tight and tried to pull them off.  As far as rear weight, I've got an extra LP tank installed on the tongue and will be installing a battery, so those should offset any minimal weight added to the rear. Plus, I may build a bike rack for the front, also.   If they were on the bumper, causing more of a leverage affect on the back, I'd be more concerned.

Just be careful not to damage the roof by tightening them down to much.  A simple but effective solution for more storage.

Rubbermaid makes bins called Action Packers.  The lid design keeps water from getting in. They come in all different sizes and very durable.  I have been using them in the bed of my truck for camping and hunting for years.  Never any water in them.  Never had them on a roof though.  I get mine at walmart (cheapest price anywhere as usual)
