I have a 99 Westlake, in great shape, but some of the outside outlets, water inlet, etc--have discolored.  Is there anything to bring them back or do they have to be replaced.  Someone told me they could be painted to the orginal color.  Is this true.

Thanks

My own thinking on that sort of thing is..."until they crack (or camper is for sale) they're good enough."

Painting might be an option, but be sure to use a paint that will bond to the plastic, and keep it out of openings (i.e. away from electrical contacts or places where it would come into contact with drinking water or clog a vent).

Another possibility might be bleaching, but I would not hold out much hope for that, and bleach may weaken some plastics.  I'm assuming here that your camper is white, and the fixtures have discolored to an off-white or yellow.

The dis-coloring is more than likely from the Sun.

Painting is an excellent way to keep them out of the Sun's harmful rays, avoiding farther deterioration and giving them a better appearance. Just be aware, unless you use the correct paint and primer (like AB said), you may be painting them yearly as the the paint peels.
