My Hybrid has a Dometic Duotherm Air Conditioner and this will be the second spring where I have to climb on the roof and give the fan a spin. With the power turned on, the compressor works fine but the blower does not start. The problem is isolated to the output shaft on the blower motor.

It seems to develop a sticky spot over the winter. With just a spin it will start and be good for the season. When it is first started after the spin and then shut down, you can hear the dead spot as it spins down. A little squirt of lube on the output shaft and it is totally silent.

Being from a electro-mechanical background, it is no big deal to me but I thought I would pass this on to you all in case you have similar problem.

And the response from Dometic

"You can take it to a dealor and get it checked out, but what you did is about all you can do.

If you are in need of any Dometic refrigerator or air conditioner or A& E awning parts you can call us at 1-800-544-4881 or purchase from any dealer or Camping World location.

If we can be of any future service do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for choosing Dometic product lines.

No big deal, I may just try to find a better lube that will hold up over the winter.

You might want to try white lithium grease. You can get it in a spray can with a long spray extension tube (like WD40 has), it's light weight and stays put a lot better than anything that I have found.

I'll try that. I have some and I usually spray it on the trailer ball and my Equalizer WDH bars.

I don't know if Dometic has the same troubleshooting as the Coleman Mach A/C's, but I had a similar problem with my coleman.  Turned out it was a bad "fan run capacitor".  I was able to test it with a multimeter, find the bad one and replace.  to test the capacitor, check continuity between each of the terminals and the case.  If it is good, the resistance will slowly drop to zero on each terminal.  if you get steady resistance on any of the terminals, the capacitor is bad and needs to be replace.  took about 5 mins and cost under $40 to get the part from the dealer.

hope this helps

Mine is definitely the motor shaft. It is hard to turn even by hand in the spring. But that was one of the things I checked last year.

if you have checked the capacitor and the blower wheel is not coming in contact with anything .the sleeve bearing has dry spot if lubing it dosn,t work, don,t try to increase the capacitor size(although 370 vac to 440vac won,t hurt).there is only 10% +/- out of Uf you can go.example if it is a 5uf and you go to 7.5uf that is to much.....more than likely you will have to change the motor
