I openned up the trailer today for our spring cleaning and was able to get some pictures to show some of the mods. I don't have pictures of everything, but this might help some people with the bunk end shelves and galley shelves.

here is a list of the mods to date.

1) Bunkend shelves, I used 12" wire shelves from home depot with three small chains to hold them up.

2) Reflectixs under the end beds for warmth.

3) Fridge baffle and 12 volt muffin fan. The fan has an LED light that give a soft blue light, so I always know when it's on.

4) Galley shelves. We have a flip-down galley, I used a 1' length of 1 1/2" PCV pipe to slide over the galley pole and use large hose clamps to attach an adjustable shelve support. One of these for each galley pole. These support adjustable shelve brackets and two shevlevs.

5) Removed the hand pump faucet and replaced with a high neck faucet for a wet bar. Replumbed the water to have the tank water ( with a new electric pump ) goto the cold water side and the City water goto the hot water side of the faucet. Some day I will get around to moving the water tank from the seat to under the trailer and add a hot water heater.

6) Added two cheap clip on fans ( $9.99 from walmart ) and change the plugs to 1/4" plugs to connect to the lights.

7) Made a reading light by rivitted a broom clip to the back of a cheap replacement dome light ( Walmart ) and adding 3' of lampcord and a 1/4" plug. The light has a built in switch and clips to the shepards pole over our bed.

8) Added a switched 3 plug 12V addapter to plug in the cell phone charger and other misc. items.

9) Added a 350watt inverter to run a small TV or a laptop. DVD's on the laptop keep the kids busy ( and not arguing with each other ) on cold rainy nights

10) Swagman hitch bicycle rack ( 3 bikes )

11) Added a roof rack to the trailer and a Sears 20 cu. ft. cargo box. There is no room in the Explorer for cargo when we have the dogs with us.

12) Carpet. Had some left over carpet from finishing the basement and cut a piecs to fit the trailer. It just lays there with no glue or staples, so I can roll it up and clean under when I need to.

VERY nice ideas!

Were the tan/ gold posts by your sink/ stove already a part of your camper? or did you ads those to mount the shelf brackets on?  that is an Awesome idea.... I might copy it!

thanks for sharing!

Yes the tan/gold post on the sink/stove counter came with the camper. They are the support poles for the flip over/down counter.

I had to adjust the PVC pipes that fit over them a few times, so I could get them to slip over the posts with the sink/stove flipped up, That is why the shlef supports do not go all the way to the roof. It takes about 1 minute to set up the shelves this way.

Great job with the mods! On the roof rack installation...did you put screws all the way through to the underside of the roof or was there a frame in the roof to screw into?

Again, great mods and thanks for the ideas! (as DW rolls her eyes at me)

Yes the screws go all the way through.

I decided to use a trak to help spread the weight and to allow me to adjust the spacing. Each trak has 5 screws that go through the roof. On the inside of the roof there is a white metal angle brace the runs around the underside of the roof. I positioned the traks so that the screws also go through this brace.

I used lots of caulk in the screw holes and under the screw heads and along side the tracks. The tracks came with a rubber pad as well. The traks have only 3 holes and sheet metal screws. I drilled out two extra holes and picked up some machine screws and locknuts at Home Depot

I bought the cargo bars and traks from proline racks. The site isn't very clear, but the cargo bars come with attachments for a number of different ways to mount the bars. They do have the hardware to mount to the traks, flush to the roof, etc.
