How much wind can "sunshade" take?
Planning trip to Cedar Point Campground on Lake Erie.  New PUP (Coachmen Clipper) has colorado carefree "sunshade" which dealer stressed over and over was a "sunshade" not an awning. (???)  Insurance charged more for a canopy and lots of posts say they damage in wind.  Got a AAR with it that we want to use.  (Heard knats and mayflies can be bad there sometimes.) It really seems to stabilize the awning.  I don't want to be taking AAR off and on continuously since would rather spend time at amusement park.  What wind speed should I worry about?  Is Lake Erie like the beach in sudden wind change?
Thanks!

I wish I could give you a specific 23.45 mph wind speed...Unfortunately it is somewhat subjective.  If the manual for your awning didn't say, you will have to play it by ear.  The problem is with wind getting under the awning and lifting it up.  The AAR will cut down on a lot of that.

I'm sorry this wasn't the most help.  BTW, Cedar Pointe is a Blast!!!

Travis -
Thanks....I kindof thought I'd have to play it by ear since I didn't get an awning manual with our new camper and the one online only said "high winds can damage awning."
Since the awning hangs about 1/4# to the outside of the support poles, the standard awning clips dont seem like they would work well.  Considering attaching heavy duty velcro to secure awning to poles.  AAR should block alot of wind from getting under the awning since those support poles butt up against the awning poles.  (Just thinking aloud, would welcome anyone else's thoughts!)

BTW, we just HAD to get the Maxx Passes for CP since this year includes the paramount parks and could get them a whole lot cheeper at Carowinds.  Kids have been dreaming of CP so we're all excited for our main vacation there while being able to shoot weekends over to Carowinds since we live NC.

Doesn't the carefree awning (I mean sunshade) eliminate the need for vertical corner poles to support it? If so, how will you set up the AAR? The AAR on Fleetwoods makes use of the vertical corner poles. Without them it seems to me that the corners will be flapping around quite a bit.

You are supposed to stake the AAR to the ground.  That will hold it in place even if you don't have corner poles.:)
