please help, i did a voltage check on one of the cabin lights and got about 12.5v. i then decided to add a cd player,  i didnt think this would be a problem. for a test, i ran a jumper to see if the player would function properly. as soon as i connected  the radio ,the interior lights got very bright and the player went into error mode. i checked the voltage with the radio connected and  it read 16.4v. any ideas would be a big help

How are you connected in?  I see a jumper which means a lot of things.  Should only be leads for the 12V pos, 12V neg (ground), and your speaker connections.  Do you have an external amp somewhere in the mix?  Can you temporarily hook a cigarette plug onto your power leads and see what happens when you plug that in?

This has to be a ground problem somewhere. I don't know if you have it plugged in or running off your batteries. Make sure that you run a good  ground to the CD player and use a inline fuse.
I hope this helps
