So last week I was using the day use area at a local lake/campground when at one camp site I saw a guy in a tent site loading up his camp utility trailer with all his gear, just like we

I think lots of people do it. It just might be an issue if its compressor kicks on at the same time as using your microwave (fairly likely) or its compressor kicks on at the same time as your air conditioner's compressor (possible, but fairly unlikely, but has happened). It would (should) only blow a fuse/breaker if any of those happened.

You could run an extension cord to the post and through the canvas to the fridge.

All in all, it is doable, without the likelihood of great problems.

This is kinda funny!;)

We occasionally go camping at Lake Cachuma, (near Santa Barbara).  My kids once  pointed out that many of the long-term "campers" have full size refrigerators sitting right outside their door.

You can start a new trend!  Weekenders and short-timers with full size refrigerators!  :p

Man, what an idea!  An ice maker and a water dispenser too!  Ice Cream!   Now I'm going to have to figure out how to strap the fridge onto the luggage rack on top of my SUV when towing the PUP.

yea I thought it was kinda funny too, but then it kinda also got me thinkin'.... I
if we were going to still be tenting it then I would really consider a smller version of course but again I think it could be doable with the PUP too.

I'll give it a shot and let ya know!

We have an additional 12v/120v fridge that we bring along if we are going to stay more than 3 days.

Here is a look at what we did for our microwave:

This mod gave us a lot of storage space and additional galley counter space as well as a more suitable place to put the microwave (without having to bend over to use it).

Ok now I like that! Loads more room in those drawers too!

So next questions are then, is that set up something specific for trailers or did you piece it together yourself? Also what cu.in.frig do you tote?

We take a 2.7 cu ft fridge with us.  I will load it up prior to leaving with all of our food and then put 1-2 frozen bottles of ice in it to keep it cool for the trip.  I always place it outside on the edge of the picnic table assuming it is large enough.  If not, we place it right outside the door between the door and the outside stove connection on blocks.  The picnic table we keep under the awning so the fridge is covered in case of rain, etc.  We will take a small cooler with bottled or can drinks with ice.  Between the fridge and the small cooler, I find it doesn't take more space inside the TV than a large cooler.  However, it keeps me from purchasing ice and the campground as we transfer most of the drinks into the fridge when we get set up.

It has a small feezer in the top.  I have used it when the temperature outside is at 100 degrees and it has frozen meat that was not frozen prior.  We store all of our meat in it and then just allow it to thaw prior to cooking it.

The only issue is with the freezer it defrosts after you unplug it.  Since we keep it in the TV, I would prefer not having the water from defrosting run inside it so we pack the freezer part and the top shelf with our pool/beach towels for the ride home.  We keep the food on the bottom shelf or in the door if we have any to take home with us.

We have traveled 5 hours or more with blocks of ice and the ice blocks were still frozen inside the fridge when we arrived and the food was still cold.

We like this size.  We have two kids who never sit still long enough to finish a can of soda or a bottle of water.  We waste so much if we give it to them that way.  With this size fridge, we can bring gallons of water and a pitcher.  We will fill the pitcher and can keep it in the fridge and just pour them smaller amounts.  Significantly less waste.

Another quick thought, I work at a college and college kids bring dorm room refridgerators.  You can buy some that have a combo fridge and microwave.  Here is an example:

I have seen them that the microwave is mounted on the fridge and they share a plug.  They are supposed to be made to draw less electricity as many colleges have that as a requirement if the student brings these types of appliances.  It might take care of both of your issues depending on where you intend on keeping them (inside or outside the pop-up).

We're planning on bringing a full sized fridge to Labor Day.  Since we're going to have upwards of 12 people (yeah, we're booked for 4 campsites) and doing centralized cooking (italian chef, anyone) ... Seems like the right thing to think of...

That + the propane grill + the screen room + the 2 canvas tarps .. we style.  :)

(Oh, and did I mention the Wii??)

We once saw a guy with a full size chest freezer outside his tent.

Turns out he was there mainly for fishing and was freezing his catch each day.

I have no idea how far he had to go, or how he kept it frozen on the way home.
