Anyone ever checked out the Idaho Power campsites in Hells Canyon?

Quote from: Walt HI liked Farewell Bend, although I don't fish. It did get very windy the Saturday night and Sunday that we were there, which I am told is not that unusual in the spring. The PU handled the wind fine, although the sound of some of the gusts slamming into the canvas kept waking me throughout the night.

We're going to be at Bruneau Dunes over Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully, that will be before it starts to get really hot.

I think you'll like the PU. It still has some of the feel of tent camping, but it is a lot easier for my son to enjoy and a lot easier on my back. Plus, you have the option of a little more luxurious camping if you go somewhere with hookups. Last Labor Day, we stayed at Three Island Crossing State Park and celebrated our anniversary early by having dinner at Carmela's Winery and Restaurant.

I think that may be half the fun. We're always looking for new spots to take the PU. Eventually, we plan to add a porta-potti and privacy curtain or tent. Then, we won't even need a park if we don't want to visit one.

I've been down that way once, although I wasn't looking for camping locations at the time. I'd love to get directions. Thanks.

Take care,

Steve

Beautiful place I think it is worth checking out. I will definetly do the same as soon as I get my PUP on the road. Sorry for the delay had a rough weekend.

Thanks for the link. I remember that Malad Gorge was very striking, although a bit hot when we went.

It appears that most of the camping is privately owned. Are there any campgrounds you'd recommend?

I will try and find out for you

Hagerman RV Park looked like it might be pretty nice. It reminded me a little of Three Island Crossing from the few pictures available.

That is the place I believe has the nice hot spring area.

Hopefully by the end of the month mine will be ready. I have it down at les Schwab's right now getting the bearings packed. " One job I really didn't want to do this year". Buying used I figured I would have to catch up on the maintainence somewhat. I had it out last weekend and set it up to access what needs to be done before we use it and found a few small things that definatly need to be done all of which I think could have been designed better at the factory but like I said they are small and I will fix them the right way and fix them once.

Let me know if you check that SP out and what you think of it.

Take Care Walt,

Steve
