Camped this week-end at Salt Lick Creek park in Tennessee.  We arrived Thursday night and it was cool enough that we didn't need the A/C.  In three previous trips this year, we had not used it so were a bit surprised when it wouldn't work on Friday.  We also had booked this cg (group trip with TPUC) with no idea of what the sites were like.  Lake-front site, pull-through, partial shade.  Partial, my foot.  There was one weeping willow tree at the edge of the lake.  It provided minimal shade on one corner of the site in the early morning when it was still cool.  (in a cg FULL of trees and mostly shaded sites).  Temps near 90, humid, and hotter than blazes, and no shade.  WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE A/C WON'T TURN ON????

Silly me - it didn't dawn on me that one of the guys coming on the trip owns a heating/cooling business.  Five minutes and it was working.  How's that for lucky?  End result:  great trip with some great friends.  Doesn't get much better than that!

That was great timing for the AC to not work. I guess partial sun there is like level sites at TOC eh.

Oh, and you can keep that 90 degree humid crap down there :D

Technically, I'm not sure.  It actually was the fan not working.  He said when moisture gets in there it can cause it to rust and lock up.  He "reached in there and turned it a few times".  It may be good for two years, two months, or not even two trips.  He did recommend that we replace the unit.  AND - that it's not good to let it sit unused for months at a time.  He suggested that every couple of months we turn the fan on for a while.  I did ask whether using a pop-up cover would help with the moisture and he said no.  And, if I'd gone to a dealer that would have cost $85 just for one hour of labor.   :p

Oh yeah...Marcy...this morning we have clear blue skies, no haze, and lower humidity.  It figures!

so ... what they say is true, eh?

It's not what you know, it's WHO you know!  Glad you know some good people.

... and I'm with Marcy ~ keep that humid stuff down south  :p

Phalangeal Percussion Therapy.

As for the humidity, it was a little more humid than it has been, this past weekend. But, the real Tennessee humidity has not arrived yet.

Yes, you will. But we have camped in melting heat, and still enjoyed it. Just don't expect to look or smell like you are going to a wedding. Just enjoy camping.
