Coleman Polar Cub A/C on 12 ft popup?

I have a '92 Coleman Pioneer popup - the box on the camper is about 11 feet.  I just had the a/c unit replaced by a national chain and they put a Coleman Polar Cub 9000 BTU unit on the camper.  I had specified when replacing the existing unit to use a new unit with same BTU rating.  I supplied the place with the model of the older unit (Coleman 7333-881) so they could look this up.  I was told today by another trailer place that my new unit is probably too small and should have a unit of either 11,000 or 13,500 BTU on top.  Any thoughts (I'm in the San Antonio, TX area)?

We have a 12' PU and a Coleman 13,500BTU AC unit on top. I wouldn't want anything smaller, especially in Texas.

There are things that you can do to help, like plug up all of the cracks, put duct tape around the door frame and insulation in the windows to get the temp down inside.

I also had a 13,500 on my pop-up when I lived in Arizona.  It worked great but a smaller one probably wouldn't cut it.

I agree whole heartedly with the previous posters. The Polar Cub units were designed for either truck campers with their better insulation and smaller volume or as a second unit on larger trailer which require more than 15K BTU's of cooling but are limited to 30 amp service. They are usually mounted in these in the "back bedroom" as cool air doesn't like corners or doorways and they are sufficient for the smaller volume of a "bedroom".

Just a quick update - spoke with RV Comfort technician this morning (they make the Coleman RV a/c units) and he confirmed that the Polar Cub was not the right unit.  Contacted Camping World and spoke with the service manager re. their having put the wrong unit on the p/u.  Dropped the unit off today and they will be removing the Polar Cub and then installing the 13,500 BTU unit this week.  Can never have too much cold air in the Texas summer heat.

Ed, glad to here it. First that you've got a decent Camping World that is willing to admitt their mistake and fix it; and that you'll be cool as a cucumber sleeping. Not much worse that being sticky with no breeze and hot humid night air.
