Finally found a dealer that was decent to deal with and after a long day, we drove home in a 2006 Silverado 2500 with the 6.0 engine and 4.1 gears.  Tow rating is 10,300 pounds so this will make it easy to move up to the tt from the htt.

Truck has just under 12,000 miles on it and was owned for 8 months by a little old lady.

Congrats on the new TV.  I'm a bit jealous I must admit.

Gene,

Where may I ask are you from?  I'm also looking for something like that.  Here in Sacramento CA I see some good deals on the trucks.  Ford was doing $7,000 off all F-150's!  And Dodge was doing $6,000 off their trucks.

I think it must have something to do with the gas prices.

You and I are about as far apart as we can be.  I am in NH.

I believe Ford is only giving about $3000 in rebates right now and Chevy is only about $1000 in the East.

If we had those kind of rebates here, I would have looked at new ones.

I located this one on Autotrader.com.  Dealer was about 40 miles from me.  It is a Chevy certified truck which means the bumper to bumper warrantee is good for 39 months/39000 miles and powertrain warrantee is good up to 100,000 miles.  Warrantees are effective from the date the vehicle is put in service, not the day you purchase it.

I fligure I saved about $9,000 or so over buying a new one plus I got more truck than I would have been able to afford brand new.  I also saved a bit because the previous owner had running boards and a real nice Retrax tonneau cover put on plus a toolbox.  Running boards and tonneau cover were in my plans to add once I bought a vehicle.

First owner took the depreciation hit and had to put in the time to get any bugs out and have the warrantee work done.

Certified trucks and cars are a little more than a noncertified one but I think the extra money is worth it for the peace of mind.  I even got a free Carfax report on this one from the site on Autotrader.

I use to buy new all the time because of the high miles I put on when I was working, now a good low mileage vehicle is what I look for.
