I am getting ready to swap out the old 6600 series Magnetek converter with an update 6700 series. There was nothing wrong with the old one, we just wanted the option of hooking up a TV/DVD in case it rains on us an our teenage son during a two-week trip. Is there anything I should be on the lookout for? The part that most makes me the most nervous is dealing with those knock outs. Thanks.

I'm a little confused.  Does the TV/DVD run on 12 volts?  Or do you mean INverter, not CONverter?

I am replacing the converter. The TV/DVD is a 110 volt unit, plugged into a 110 wall outlet. Which, now that I think about it, means it is not drawing any power from the converter, so the older converter may not interfere at all with the TV or any other 110 volt use. Hmmmm. Which in turns means I may not have to replace the converter to avoid interference. Maybe time for a little test -- hook the generator up the Coleman, plug in an old 19-inch TV I've got laying around and see what happens. Keeping a fire extinguisher handy, of course.

Some of the older converters may interfere with TV reception. They work better if you leave the TV home...... :J

I'd love too. I've got two or three books I need to get through, but some limited TV for the teenager is the compromise I'm probably going to have to make. I'm trying to look at it as a weather insurance policy -- 12 days on the road will undoubtedly run into some foul weather complicating our outdoor plans.

I have a 16 year old that doesn't camp as much these days.  He wants electric hookups so he can watch videos.  In the past we didn't take such things camping, but to keep him going I compromise.:)
