Hey All...

DW and I spent 4 nights at the Bothe-Napa Valley State Park (CA) last week.

The campground is great.  Plenty of sites with trees in between them.  Each contains a picnic table, fire pit, and locking food box (we didn't see any racoons and just left our food in the PUP).

No hookups, but the sites are level, there are 2 bathroom facilities, hot showers (25cents for 3 minutes), greywater dump, slop sinks, many water bibs, and miles of hiking trails.  The whole park was clean, the camp host and rangers were friendly, and you are right in the heart of the wineries (a couple are within walking distance).

The CG is right on 29 between St. Helena and Calistoga, so it is a great oasis amonst the business of the towns and wineries.  Beautiful views abound.

Anyone planning a trip to the wine country, feel free to email me.  I can send you lots more picks, plus give you hints on some of the best tours of off-the beaten path boutique wineries.

It cost us $20 a night (much cheaper than hotels and B&B's) and we booked/paid in advance with Reserve America.
Have fun...

OC Campers

We have heard good things about this park and plan on going sometine in the future.  I love the Napa area wthl all the wineries and rolling hillsides.

Thank you for the review.

Thanks for the review.  Looks like a nice campground.

We have visited the Napa valley and stayed in hotels, but are considering taking the camper for our next visit.  We have wondered about Bothe-Napa, and it looks like our kind of place (natural setting vs. RV parking lot).

I sent you an email because I would like to take you up on your offer to send more pics.  If you have any campsite recommendations, that would be helpful as well.

Nice looking camper by the way. We have a Jayco Baja that we use to get out into the boondocks here in Arizona.

tjy355,

We really like camping at Bothe-Napa SP.  The ranger there is one of DH's tax clients...very nice guy!  I don't happen to have any pictures, but the park is definitely in a natural setting with redwoods, oak trees, and a picturesque creek.  One thing to watch out for is an abundance of poison oak...comes with the territory!

Site recommendations would be: 7  11  12  16  21  39  41  45  47
These are preferred because they are private and shady.  The place can get very hot in the summer, but since you're from AZ, that shouldn't be a problem!

TB - that looked like a nice spot you were in, do you remember the site #?  Any recommendations on site #'s?
