where to find new foam mattresses/care

We recently purchased a 1993 Jayco 1208 and the mattress foam smells terrible.  We have had them outside in the sun for over a week and also sprayed them with fabreeze but there has been no change.  Any suggestions?  If they can't be repaired I don't even know where to begin to find reasonably priced new ones.  We are hoping to camp next weekend for the first time and are in a bit of a hurry.  Any ideas are appreciated!

I read that J.C.Penny have foam on sale sometimes with free shipping.
I have not tried buying any from them yet though.
Meantime maybe air-matresses would work for the upcoming trip.

When we bought our PUP last fall, the mattresses had some mold on them. We took them out of the covers, washed the covers in the washer, and washed the foam with a heavy concentration of Lysol disinfectant soap. It took a lot of rinsing to get all the foam out!

But now they smell fine and should last quite a while. To make it easier to get the foam back into the covers, we wrapped each foam pad in a layer of painter's plastic (the really thin clear plastic). It helped tremendously, plus it should help keep moisture out of the foam should we ever have to pack up in the rain.

It's worth a shot to try it. And I agree about the air mattresses. They would help you get past that first camping trip.

Edit: If you try this, make sure you let the foam dry completely before wrapping in plastic. We let ours lay out in the sun on our deck for 2 or 3 days.

Automotive and furniture upholstery places carry, and/or can get foam in all different shapes, sizes and densities.  We have an upholstery supply store here and they a huge selection of foam.  

Maybe you have something similar in your area?

We replaced the mattresses in our previous '76 Apache with foam from  JC Penneys. They sell it in different grades of firmness and it was reasonably priced and arrived compressed. It made all the difference in the world as far as comfort...

Overstock.com has a lot of foam and memory foam mattresses. That's where we got our 3" memory foam for home. We bought a simple eggcrate mattress from Wally World for the camper.

Look up "foam" in your yellow pages.  There are foam and fabric shops that do reupholstering that will cut the foam to whatever size you want.  Probably cheaper than buying a "memory foam" mattress too.

So Larry and Holly - do you still do these kind of prank surprises on each other? Love to hear when couples actually continue to do these surprises. Have a couple that I am planning a 70th birthday surprise for. The husband wanted something close to home so we are planning to have a catered candlelight dinner on a pontoon boat in the middle of a lake, with music that they can dance to. We have hired a caterer that is doing all the meal preparation and serving. Plus we have a limo picking the couple up at a very nice B&B to take them to the lake.
