Just recieved two new name brand tires from a name brand online seller. opened the box and I found my tires were smashed flatter than a pancake and warped... took all my strength to pop them out but they still look bad... called the seller and they got with there tire people and said that they come from the manufactuer vacummed wrapped in this condition, and to go ahead and mount them that there would be no problem at all... has anyone seen tires like this?  I just wonder if the sidewall could have got damaged..

Not exactly sure about your description, but if it is the same image that's in my head, I'd be afraid of belt breakage or something like that.

Hi Sandskeeter,
We too got tires online. They also came "compressed". Had them mounted and haven't had any problems in 2 years now. By the way they are the little 20.5x8x10 size bias belted chubbies.

Very common, especialy with tires shipped from overseas. Just check the date code and if it's more than about 6 months old return them for newer tires. If older the tires have set for too long in the "compressed" state and besides since trailer tires rarely fail to tread wear but to age; why pay for something that has a good portion of it's life span already gone?

I'm gonna go ahead and have these mounted and try them out... just kind of gave me a shock when i pulled them out of the box..

Try not to act a little surprised if your local "tire mounter" exhibits a little dismay at having to mount the out-of-shape tires - it will require more of his time & talents! One of the reasons so many places are now offering trailer tires already mounted on rims! Wal-Mart, for example, will sell a tire & rim for about the same price as they will charge for ordering out the tire by itself!

Good luck!

The last two sets of Duro tires that I bought for the popup came by UPS and were squashed. Have never had any problems with them.

Wow. I learned something since my first post in this thread. Squashed tires are OTAY.

Well, perhaps "otay" is being a bit too generous.

Tires are not supposed to be flattened, regardless of whether the Chinese have started shipping them in that manner or not. Rubber fatigue is a big concern, as is cracking -- let's face it, a tire is not supposed to be compressed that way.

I got 4 Duro's that way just recently, and the shipper said the same thing; they all come like that. I've had trailers before, so I know that's BS. I also know how difficult it was to find a place that could mount them. I ended up going to 3 different places before I finally got them all mounted, and by the time I was done the total tab was about $80. Disgraceful. Don't be surprised if you have a similar problem.

Once upon a time, the American consumer would not tolerate such shoddy excuses or services. But today, the consumer goes by what Corporate USA(?) says is "otay" and they are told how "lucky" they are to be "serviced" by such wonderful conglomerates. What, ... complain to the government? To Congress? Why, the corporates have all of them in their hip pocket! And as for the American consumer, the corporate mogul has this reply ... "Accept your flatten tires or lump it and do without ... who needs ya, anyway!"

This is only the tip of the iceberg for the made overseas stuff and the services
one will recieve.
