Please help...My wife and I recently purchased a 2002 Starcraft Pop-up.  We are yet to use it, but we can't wait.  One problem..I own a 99 Jeep Cherokee Sport that does have wiring for an in-line 4 wire connection, but I need a 7 phase plug for my camper.  I had a friend run some wires from the hitch to the engine and I also had him install one of those electric brake override devices underneath my console.  When we plugged the trailer in, all the lights worked, except the trailer brakes remain engaged.  The brakes disengage when I unplug the cord.  I'm sure that he crossed some wires when he connected them to my battery.  I am not electrical engineer, but I need to figure out this problem.  Does anyone have any helpful hints or some wiring diagrams that may assist me in solving this problem.

Thanks.....FD

I'd suggest you call Starcraft.  1-800-945-4787, ext. 209.  Ask for Bob Jones.  He should be able to email you the proper diagram plus anything else you may need.  If you've crossed a wire it is possible you've fried your controller.  Also have your VIN so he can check to see if the recall was done to yours, if you have the Gemini.  Here's the recall:http://www.motorbeat.com/model/starcraft/gemini/2002/

They're really very helpful and will assist you with most anything.

Sounds like he has the brake controller wired wrong, under the dash. It should have one wire going to a 12V (hot with ignition on) source and another wire going to the stop light switch. He may have them reversed. Check your installation instructions for the color codes for your controller.

BTW, what make & model controller is it?

I would also recommend replacing your 4-pin connector with a 7-pin on your tow vehicle.

Since you said your Jeep was already wired for a 4 plug system I am going to assume you have this already but just incase you don
