Was just in Walmart to pick up one of those 10" O2Cool brand battery powered fans for PU.  Nearby they had a digital weather station, actually 3 of them.  I bought the big one that does temp/humidity for inside and outside, day/date/time/moon phase, alarm clock, back lit, 1 remote sensor and can use 2 more. $28 plus 2AAA, and 2AA batteries.

So would you use that one for your frig temp as well? Assuming the remote sensors could be used for the frig (and freezer if you have one).  Or is it going to be more convenient to have both?

What brand was it so I can see if our Hell~Mart has it?

Just when I was wondering what other cool gadgets can I find for the PUP. Thanks!

It's an "ACU-rite" brand.  $27.77 plus the batteries.  The company is in WI.

Not sure if it'll sense inside the refrigerator, but I'm going to try.  Haven't taken it out of the blister pack yet.

Loading up even as we speak, for the maiden voyage to the Grand Canyon (south rim) so I'll have an update in next week.

Quote from: AustinBostonI have a LaCrosse wireless indoor-outdoor temperature system at home.  Similar to this unit, but with extra sensors).  On occasion I have brought it and one of the sensors camping.  Until this moment, it never occured to me to use another sensor in the fridge.  I don't know if the wireless would work in the fridge; if there's too much metal, the signal will not get through.
I took my Radio Shack wireless thermometer out to the pup the last time I had the fridge fired up. I sat the receiver on the cabinet above the fridge, and in a minute or two, it picked up the transmitter's signal and started displaying the temp. It never lost the signal. I would think they would work all the time unless a particular brand of frig. is manufactured significantly different.

I have one of the Oregon Scientific wireless units. It was under $20 at Target and its worked without a problem for the last 2 years at the house. When we take out the PUP I put the remote in the fridge and can even take the display unit into the TV cab and watch whats going on while going down the road. :yikes:

The best part is that it saves the hi/lo temp so I can see what the max temp was during the heat of the day and whether any perishables were at risk.

Just gave mine a test and sure enough, it reads with the remote unit inside the fridge!

So next time we're on the road, as you say, I'll be able to monitor the fridge from inside the TV.  Nice!

Here's the one I purchased....
