Does anyone wax their camper?  Also, does anyone use a cover over the winter?

dthurk

We do wax our camper.  We use Mop and Glo- goes on easily, covers well and lasts a long time.  We used a cover with the PUP and let it stay with the camper when we sold it.  I haven't bought one for the TT, just seemed to be too much money.  We never had any moisture issues when we did use the cover, FWIW.

I'm a big fan of Meguiar's automotive polishes and waxes.  Their cleaner/wax No.6 is excellent for removing dullness and bringing back a nice shine.   You can seal this with their No.26 liquid wax.  If you want a really deep shine, use the No.7 show car glaze before the No.26.

I just hand polished mine using Turtle Wax rubbing compound, then their polishing compound, then I went over that with Zymol (another outstanding cleaner/wax) and finished up with a sample of a new wax that Mother's is making.  Turned out pretty darn nice, especially considering what I started with!

I wash our Rockwood with Thetford Trailer Glitter, then wax with Meguire's waxes.  The washing is as needed, and I wax at least 2 to 3 times a year, waxing not only the white body of the camper but the exposed frame and hitch area as well.  I also use Meguire's tire wet polish on the tires.

As our camper fits into our garage when not being used, I don't use a cover.

The Rockwood manual suggests that it shoud be waxed at least annually.

Is Meguire's a trailer wax or just a car wax that can be found in any automotive store?

They make many products and levels of waxes and cleaners. Available at most any automotive stores and also many general merchandise stores, farm stores, hardware stores, and some discount retailers.

BAH!!!!!!!!  *sprays milk out of nose onto screen and keyboard*

On a more serious note;  I try not to get stuff like this wet, especially spraying it down with a hose.  Nothing like forcing water into all the bad places!  I don't even wash my vintage cars.

There used to be a spray detail product made by Prolong Prolong Inc. Pomona, CA that was superb for cleaning and maintaining an excellent finish. Called "Prolong Waterless Wash and Shine." Not suitable of course if your rig was full of standing dirt and mud.......but for a car or PUP with just normal road grime, bird cr@p, "been sitting out" dust, etc. it was ideal.  Mist it on, polish off.  Left the finish slick and smooth like it was just waxed.  Floated bird droppings off, even if baked on, like nothing else.  I just ordered a gallong of it for $28 and that'll last me a year or more.  The 17oz spray bottle is $7.  Fantastic stuff!

Then wax over that!

Oops., the Trailer Glitter RV wash is made by Camco, not Thetford.
